Samuel Orace Dunn
Samuel Orace Dunn (March 8, 1877 – January 4, 1958) was an American transportation specialist. Biography He was born in Bloomfield, Iowa on March 8, 1877. He began to set type at the age of 12. He learned the printing trade after graduating from high school, was editor of the Quitman, (Mo.) ''Record'' (1895–96) and associate editor of the Maryville, (Mo.) ''Tribune'' (1896–1900); from 1900 to 1904 was a reporter, and later editorial writer, on the Kansas City ''Journal'', and in 1904-07 was connected with the Chicago ''Tribune'' as railroad editor and editorial writer. In 1907-08 he was managing editor of the ''Railway Age'', and thereafter editor of the ''Railway Age Gazette''. He also contributed articles to periodicals and lectured frequently on transportation subjects and was an outspoken advocate on behalf of the railroad industry. Samuel Dunn (minister)
Samuel Dunn (13 February 1798 – 24 January 1882) was a British Methodist minister and religious writer. Life Dunn was born at Mevagissey in Cornwall. His father, James Dunn, the master of a small trading vessel, made the acquaintance of John Wesley in 1768, and became a class leader; with his crew he protected Adam Clarke from the fury of a mob in Guernsey in 1786. He died at Mevagissey, 8 August 1842, aged 88. The son Samuel received his education at Truro, under Edward Budd, who was afterwards the editor of '' The West Briton''. In 1819 he was admitted a Wesleyan Methodist minister, and after passing the usual three years of probation, was received as a full minister, and volunteered for service in the Shetland Islands, where, in conjunction with John Raby, he was the first minister of his denomination, and suffered many hardships. Samuel Dunn (1723 - 1794) was a British mathematician, teacher, cartographer and amateur astronomer. Samuel Dunn wrote in his will: The schoolhouse was the place where the "English school" was kept previously to its union with the blue school in 1821.
