"Sameyakh" or "Sameach" ( he, label=Hebrew alphabet, Hebrew script, שמייח; meaning "happy") is a Hebrew song by the pop band PingPong (band), PingPong, a quartet consisting of Guy Asif, Roy Arad, Yifat Giladi and Ahal Eden. The song was the entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2000. Themes The song describes an Israeli woman on a kibbutz who appears to be depressed, having a torrid affair with a Damascus man, who appears in the video in a traditional headdress, or keffiyeh. It makes references to wars and natural disasters such as floods, and when the reference to the cucumber is made, the singers sing into cucumbers. PingPong ( he, פינג פונג) is an Israeli pop quartet that represented Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000 with the song Sameach ( he, שמח, lit. ''Happy''). The members of the band were: Guy Assif, Ahal Eden, Roy Arad and Yifat Giladi. The band released one album ''Between Moral and Fashion'' (2000, Hed Arzi) with songs like "Burger Ranch" (Israeli chain of fastfood restaurants), "I got a lover in Givati" and "Mr. Israel". This album sells only about 1000 copies. Their hit song " Sameach" (Hebrew for "Happy") was admitted to the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest. Roy "Chicky" Arad (Hebrew language, Hebrew: רועי "צ'יקי" ארד, born 1977) is an Israeli poet, singer, script-writer, artist, and political activist. Arad is the founder and former editor of ''Maayan (magazine), Maayan'' magazine for poetry and a former journalist for Haaretz. Poetry and Literature Arad has published eight books. He formed a style that he called "Kimo" and defined as "a Hebrew adaptation of the Japanese Haiku": it consists of three lines of 10, 7, and 6 syllables. It usually describes one frozen scene that has no movement in it, and in practice, the content of the poems is close to Senryū. Israel participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 in Copenhagen. Tal Sondak represented Israel with the song "En Davar". Before Eurovision Kdam Eurovision 2001 The final took place on 28 December 2000 at the Neve Ilan TV Studios in Jerusalem, hosted by Duo Datz and broadcast on Channel 1. Twelve entries competed and the winner was selected by a combination of the votes from five voting groups: three regional juries jury groups (18%), an expert jury of IBA representatives (29%) and votes from the public (53%). Tal Sondak ( he, טל סונדק; born July 23, 1976) is an Israeli singer. His musical career started at the age of ten as a member of a boys choir. He received several first prizes at children's song festivals, most recently as a 15-year-old, where he won with a song that he had written himself. Eytan Fox ( he, איתן פוקס; born on August 21, 1964) is an Israeli film director. Biography Eytan Fox was born in New York City. His family immigrated to Israel when he was two. His father, Seymour Fox, was a Conservative rabbi and a professor of Jewish education at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His mother, Sara Kaminker-Fox, was the head of the Jerusalem city council and involved in Jerusalem urban planning. Fox has two brothers, David and Danny. The Netherlands participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2000 with the song "No Goodbyes" written by Ellert Driessen and John O'Hare. The song was performed by Linda Wagenmakers. The Dutch broadcaster Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS) organised the national final in order to select the Dutch entry for the 2000 contest in Stockholm, Sweden.
