Sam Isaacs
Samuel Yebble Isaacs (1845 – 14 July 1920) was an Aboriginal Australian stockman and farmer from the South West of Western Australia, who was best known for his role in the rescue of the SS ''Georgette'' in 1876, together with Grace Bussell. Biography Isaacs was born in 1845 in Augusta to Saul "Sam" Isaacs, a Native-American or African-American sailor who came to the Busselton area on an American whaling ship in the 1830s, and Darinder, a Wardandi woman who gave him the Aboriginal name Yebble. She died during childbirth and he was fostered by Anne Dawson, who had recently given birth to a son, Elijah. Vasse, Western Australia
Vasse is a suburb of the city of Busselton in the South West region of Western Australia, west of Busselton and southwest of Perth. Its local government area is the City of Busselton. At the 2016 census, Vasse had a population of 2,479. The area was originally inhabited by the Wardandi people. Hurford and Penney seem to have had a bay whaling operation in Geographe Bay in 1846. The town is named after the Vasse River and Vasse Estuary, both of which in turn are named after French seaman, Thomas Vasse, who disappeared in the area in June 1801 during Nicolas Baudin's expedition. . 10th Light Horse Regiment (Australia)
The 10th Light Horse Regiment is a "mounted infantry" regiment of the Australian Army Reserve, raised in Western Australia (WA). While the name of the 10th Light Horse originated in the first months of World War I, the regiment traces its ceremonial lineage to mounted infantry units of the Colonial militia of Western Australia, raised during the late 19th century, such as the Western Australian Mounted Infantry. Metricup, Western Australia
Metricup is a locality in the South West region of Western Australia near the town of Cowaramup on the Bussell Highway. It is in the Margaret River wine region and its local government area is the City of Busselton. At the 2021 census, it had a population of 263.
