Salvatore Montagna
Salvatore "Sal the Iron Worker" Montagna (; 1971 – November 24, 2011) was an Italian-Canadian crime boss and acting boss of the Bonanno crime family in New York City, as well as the Sicilian faction-leader of the Bronx section. He had later been associated with the Rizzuto crime family of Montreal. Montagna was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 1971. He was raised in Castellammare del Golfo, Sicily. In the mid 1980s, at the age of 15, his family immigrated to the United States and settled in the Bronx, New York. He later became an acting caporegime for the Bonanno crime family, and by 2004, he was the acting boss of the family in the absence of Vincent Basciano. Montagna was a Canadian and Italian citizen, and was deported from the United States to Canada in 2009. Raynald Desjardins
Raynald Desjardins (born October 2, 1953) is a prominent organized crime figure in Montreal, and a former associate of the Rizzuto crime family. In 2010, he was part of a violent effort to take control of the Rizzutos' operations. He is currently serving a 14-year prison sentence for his role in the 2011 murder of the acting boss of New York's Bonanno crime family, Salvatore Montagna. The French-Canadian Desjardins has been described as "the most influential non-Italian in the Montreal Mafia since William Obront and Armand Courville". Despite sharing the same surname, Desjardins is not related to André Desjardins, a notoriously corrupt union boss turned loan shark. Patrick "Patty from the Bronx" DeFilippo (1939 — November 24, 2013) was an American mobster who was a captain in the Bonanno crime family. He operated from the Bronx and controlled a large illegal gambling ring. Bonanno member DeFilippo became a made man sometime in the 1970s, though his involvement with the family dates back much farther. His father Vito was a high-ranking Sicilian-born member of the family and a close associate of Joe Bonanno. Joseph Massino
Joseph Charles Massino (born January 10, 1943) is an American former mobster. He was a member of the Mafia and boss of the Bonanno crime family from 1991 until 2004, when he became the first boss of one of the Five Families in New York City to turn state's evidence. Massino was a protégé of Philip Rastelli, who took control of the Bonanno family in 1973. Rastelli spent most of his reign in and out of prison, but was able to get the assassination of Carmine Galante, a mobster vying for power, approved in 1979.
