Saltwater Heroes
''Saltwater Heroes'' is an Australian reality television series produced by Northern Pictures for the Discovery Channel. The series is hosted by Andrew "ET" Ettingshausen and portrays the real life events of crews aboard commercial fishing vessels and what life is like for commercial fisherman across Australia. Background The program received funding from Screen Australia in late 2014 for a four-part series. The series is produced by Northern Pictures for Discovery Australia and Discovery International. During filming, Ettingshausen suffered a problem with his diving regulator while underwater diving during filming in Queensland. Ettingshausen was unable to breathe air, and required assistance from other people diving near him, including sharing an oxygen regulator. Andrew Ettingshausen
Andrew "ET" Ettingshausen (born 29 October 1965) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s. He played his first grade Australian club football for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, retiring at the end of the 2000 NRL season having played 328 first grade games for the club, the NSWRL/ARL/SL/NRL record for most games at a single club. This record stood for ten years, before ultimately being broken by Darren Lockyer for the Broncos in 2010. "ET" as he was known, represented both New South Wales, and the Australian Kangaroos, and was twice a Kangaroo tourist. After his retirement from league in 2000, Ettingshausen went on to host and produce his own fishing television show titled ''Escape with ET''. OzTAM is an Australian audience measurement research firm that collects and markets television ratings data. It is jointly owned by the Seven Network, the Nine Network and Network Ten, and is the official source of television ratings data for all metropolitan television in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth as well as subscription services (such as Foxtel) on a national basis. OzTAM was created in 1999 after the Seven and Ten Networks led a call for a re-tendering of the contract to provide audience ratings. Executives from both networks were concerned that the previous ratings service did not accurately reflect viewing levels for their channels. The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest coral reef system composed of over 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands stretching for over over an area of approximately . Sea slug is a common name for some marine invertebrates with varying levels of resemblance to terrestrial slugs.
