Saltcoats Victoria Football Club are a Scottish football club based in the town of Saltcoats, North Ayrshire. Nicknamed ''the Seasiders'', the club were originally formed in 1889 and play at Campbell Park. They currently compete in the . Saltcoats have always had a loyal support and locals have shown in the past they will turn out in numbers for big games. When Saltcoats twice reached the quarter-final stage of the Scottish Junior Cup in the 1970s the home legs both attracted an estimated 3000+ supporters. Like many Junior Clubs Saltcoats rely on a hard working committee and sponsors to maintain revenue. Campbell Park is now owned by North Ayrshire Council. The Grandstand was destroyed by a severe storm in the early 1970s. The changing rooms were maintained for some years after, but now the club relies on pre-fabricated facilities. Saltcoats
Saltcoats ( gd, Baile an t-Salainn) is a town on the west coast of North Ayrshire, Scotland. The name is derived from the town's earliest industry when salt was harvested from the sea water of the Firth of Clyde, carried out in small cottages along the shore. It is part of the 'Three Towns' conurbation along with Ardrossan and Stevenston and is the third largest town in North Ayrshire. History In the late eighteenth century, several shipyards operated at Saltcoats, producing some sixty to seventy ships. The leading shipbuilder was William Ritchie, but in 1790 he moved his business to Belfast. By the early nineteenth century, the town had stopped producing ships. Saltcoats Town Hall, which dates back to 1826, is a Category B listed building. In 2018, a statue to commemorate the popular football Bobby Lennox, from the town, was constructed across from the main station. Ayrshire Junior Football League
The Ayrshire Junior Football League, known as the Western Junior League from 1919 until 1968, was a football league competition operated in Ayrshire under the Scottish Junior Football Association which operated until a merger in 2002. The league was formed in the aftermath of World War I, primarily from clubs in the territory which today is North Ayrshire that had participated in smaller leagues such as the ''Irvine & District'' competition. David McKellar
David Norwood McKellar (born 22 May 1956) is a Scottish retired professional footballer, best remembered for his time as a goalkeeper in the Football League with Carlisle United, for whom he made 160 appearances for the club over two spells. In a long career, he played in all four divisions of the English league pyramid and the top three divisions in Scotland. McKellar later managed in Scottish junior and amateur football. Ray Montgomerie
Ray Montgomerie (born 17 April 1961) is a Scottish former footballer who played as a defender for Dumbarton, Kilmarnock and Partick Thistle. Montgomerie started out playing with his local Scottish Junior club Saltcoats Victoria before signing for Newcastle United where he spent his formative years in the senior ranks from 1979 until 1981. After returning to Scotland, Montgomerie signed for the ''Sons'' where he played right-back for seven seasons from 1981 until 1988, having scored 8 goals in 180 league appearances. Montgomerie then moved to Kilmarnock for £12,000 in the 1988 close season, where he was soon moved to centre-back and would be appointed the club's captain thereafter. Montgomerie's first match for ''Killie'' was in Dumfries at Palmerston Park versus Queen of the South on 13 August 1988.
