Salomé Milagre Machiuassane Moiane (born 1951) is a Mozambique, Mozambican politician. In 1977 she was one of the first group of women elected to the Assembly of the Republic (Mozambique), People's Assembly. Biography Moiane was born in Maciene in 1951 to parents who lived in Ngonwanine village.Colin Darch (2018''Historical Dictionary of Mozambique''p268 Her father, an assimilado, worked in Maputo, Lourenço Marques for the Portuguese Geographical and Cadastral Service and Moiane was raised by her maternal grandmother until the age of six. She attended a catholic primary school in Chongoene for three years and then spent a year at school in Xipamanine before studying bookkeeping at the Escola Comercial. She also joined the Geographical and Cadastral Service in 1968 and was the first African woman to quality as a map drafting technician. The Assembly of the Republic () is the unicameral legislative body of the Republic of Mozambique established in 1977. The current parliament has 250 members who are directly elected through a system of party-list proportional representation and serve five-year terms. Parties must receive at least five percent of the vote nationally to gain parliamentary representation. Parliamentary debates and business are conducted entirely in Portuguese. Three parties are represented in the parliament: FRELIMO, RENAMO and the Democratic Movement of Mozambique. After the 2014 election, RENAMO MPs have refused to take office, since the party considered the electoral act had been fraudulent, but they resumed their duties in February 2015.
