Saleen Special Vehicles
Saleen Special Vehicles or SSV, was a Saleen-owned and Saleen-operated small-volume, specialty vehicle assembly plant located at 1225 East Maple Road in Troy, Michigan. The building housing this facility was previously a Stanley door-manufacturing facility prior to renovations performed by Saleen to manufacture the Ford GT (which occurred between 2003 and 2006). Prior to use by Stanley, the building was the headquarters of the AMT Corporation, known by many as the premier manufacturer of 1:25th scale model cars in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. The plant was last used principally for production of the Saleen S331 Sport Truck, and various models of Saleen Mustangs. Saleen Automotive, Inc., commonly known as Saleen (/səˈliːn/), is an American manufacturer of specialty high-performance sports cars and high-performance automotive parts. Saleen is headquartered in Corona, California, US. On June 26, 2013 Saleen became public through a reverse merger. Aluminum Model Toys (AMT) is a toy manufacturing brand founded in Troy, Michigan in 1948 by West Gallogly Sr. AMT became known for manufacturing 1/25 scale plastic automobile dealer promotional model cars and friction motor models, and pioneered the annual 3-in-1 model kit buildable in stock, custom, or hot-rod versions. Stephen Mark "Steve" Saleen (born April 2, 1949) is an American businessman and former racing driver. He is best known for being the founder and former vice chairman of Saleen, Inc., originally named Saleen Autosport, which is an OEM manufacturer of specialty vehicles including the Saleen S1, Saleen S7 and highly modified Ford Mustangs. The Dodge Viper is a sports car that was manufactured by Dodge (by SRT for 2013 and 2014), a division of American car manufacturer FCA US LLC from 1992 until 2017, having taken a brief hiatus in 2007 and from 2010 to 2012.
