Saleen is headquartered in Corona, California, US. On June 26, 2013 Saleen became public through a reverse merger. It is listed on the OTC Bulletin Board and is controlled and majority owned by Saleen brand founder Steve Saleen. Saleen's flagship car was the Saleen S7, introduced in 2000. The S7 was wholly built by Saleen and features a mid-engine design in a high-performance sports car package. Saleen XP8
The Saleen XP8 is a performance sport utility vehicle based on the Ford Explorer created by Saleen during the years 1998–2001. There were three prototype models, based on the 1997 Explorer XLT, which when viewed closely, has distinct characteristics apart from the production models (rear hatch design, taillights, and integrated license plate into the rear bumper). The Saleen XP8 comes in two wheel drive, or all wheel drive four-door configurations, packing either a 5.0-liter V-8, or a Saleen-developed supercharged 5.0-liter/286-horsepower V-8. Stephen Mark "Steve" Saleen (born April 2, 1949) is an American businessman and former racing driver. He is best known for being the founder and former vice chairman of Saleen, Inc., originally named Saleen Autosport, which is an OEM manufacturer of specialty vehicles including the Saleen S1, Saleen S7 and highly modified Ford Mustangs. The Saleen 1, also called the Saleen S1, is a two-seater sports car developed and built by American automobile manufacturer Saleen Automotive. It was unveiled at the 2017 LA Auto Show, and is the first car developed entirely by Saleen since the Saleen S7 ended production in 2009. Production of the Saleen 1 is planned to be 1,500 units yearly, with a starting price of US$100,000 each. The Saleen 302 Series are variations introduced in the 5th generation of Ford Mustang which was produced by the American manufacturer Saleen, Inc. Beginning in 2007 with the S302-PJ edition, Saleen modified stock Ford 4.6L 3V V8 engine blocks with a larger displacement and high compression to 5.0L with OEM engine components.
