Sale Sharks Women
Sale Sharks Women are a women's rugby union club based in Sale, Greater Manchester, England. They were founded in 2020 as the women's team of Premiership Rugby side Sale Sharks. They currently compete in the Premier 15s, the highest division of women's rugby union in England. History On 30 January 2020, Premiership Rugby side Sale Sharks announced that they would apply for place in the Premier 15s League ahead of the 2020–21 season, committing £1 million over a three-year period to their women's section. Their application was successful, and on 6 April, Sale Sharks Women were entered into the league alongside Exeter Chiefs Women, replacing Waterloo and Richmond. Sale's application to be a part of the Premier 15s from the 2023/24 season onwards was initially rejected by the RFU. Heywood Road
Heywood Road is a rugby stadium in Sale, Greater Manchester, England, which has been the home ground of rugby union side Sale F.C. since 1905. It was the home ground of spin-off professional club Sale Sharks until they moved to Edgeley Park, Stockport, in 2003. Sale Sharks' 'A' team, the Sale Jets, still play at Heywood Road. 2022–23 Premier 15s
The 2022–23 Premier 15s is the 6th season of the Premier 15s, the highest tier of English domestic women's rugby union competition (the 24th season including editions of the previous Women's Premiership), and the 3rd to be sponsored by Allianz. The competition schedule was adapted to take place in a shortened timeframe, compared with previous seasons, in order to accommodate the 2021 Rugby World Cup. For the second year running, the Allianz Cup will take place alongside the league, with fixtures for this cup competition scheduled within the international windows during the season. Leah Lyons
Leah Lyons (born 27 November 1994) is an Irish rugby player from Cork. She plays prop for Sale Sharks, Munster and the Ireland women's national rugby union team. She has represented Ireland since 2016. Club career Lyons' father Michael founded the Fermoy Lionesses and gave herself and her sister Adena scrum caps and a ball when they were just six but she started out playing in all-boys teams and didn't get to play on an all-girls' team until U13 level. She was a ball-girl in Thomond Park when Ireland played England there in the 2007 Women's Six Nations. She moved to Highfield RFC to play senior club rugby in 2013 and this resulted in her selection for her provincial side Munster Rugby since 2013. Molly Wright (born 13 May 1991) is a New Zealand-born Scottish rugby union player who plays for Sale Sharks Women in Premiership Women's Rugby.
