Elsbeth Levy Bothe
Elsbeth Levy Bothe (October 17, 1927 – February 27, 2013) was an American attorney and judge. Bothe was one of the first women to begin law school at the University of Maryland School of Law. Biography She was born into a large German-Jewish family, the Levys, in Baltimore, Maryland and was the great-granddaughter of Isaac Hamburger, founder of Hamburger and Sons Clothiers. She attended the Park School in Baltimore and went to college at the University of Chicago, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She was one of the first women to begin law school at the University of Maryland School of Law, graduated from it in 1952 and was admitted to the Maryland Bar the same year. That year she also met her husband, Bert Bothe, a lawyer in the labor movement. She worked on civil rights in Mississippi and was active with the United Auto Workers and the Legal Aid Society upon her return to Baltimore. She practiced law as a defense attorney. Elsbeth Schragmüller (7 August 1887, Schlüsselburg near Petershagen, Kingdom of Prussia, German Empire — 24 February 1940, Munich, Nazi Germany), also known as Fräulein Doktor and Mademoiselle Docteur, as well as Fair Lady, La Baronne and Mlle. Schwartz, was a German university professor-turned-spymaster for Abteilung III b in German-occupied Belgium during World War I. Early life Schragmüller was the eldest of four children born to Prussian Army officer and bailiff Carl Anton Schragmüller and his wife Valesca Cramer von Clausbruch. Her younger brother was the future Sturmabteilung (SA) police chief of Magdeburg, Konrad Schragmüller. Schragmüller spent her childhood first in Schlüsselburg and then in Münster with her grandmother, who educated her. Elsbeth Van Rooy-Vink
Elisabet "Elsbeth" van Rooy-Vink (born 25 January 1973 in Wijk en Aalburg) is a Dutch cyclist specializing in competitive mountain biking. Van Rooy-Vink represented the Netherlands at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta in both the road race and mountain biking, while at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens she only competed in mountain biking. In Atlanta's road race, she finished in 28th position, 53 seconds behind the winner. She did better in mountain biking, ranking fifth. Elsbeth Von Keudell
Elsbeth von Keudell (1857–1953) was a German nurse and senior coordinator of the Countess Rittberg Sisters' Association of the Red Cross. She was one of the first people to receive the Florence Nightingale Medal for her service to those in need. Life and work Keudell was born 21 May 1857 in Tilsit, Kingdom of Prussia as the youngest daughter of an officer and landowner and she was trained as a nurse at Berlin's Charité Hospital. From 1902 to 1903 she was head nurse at the surgical clinic of the hospital in Magdeburg-Altsta, German Empire. She was one of the first nurses in the country to receive additional training to become a superior at the Red Cross school founded by Clementine von Wallmenich. Keudell passed the exam in early 1904, and on 1 May, she took over management of the Countess Rittberg Sisters' Association of the Red Cross, named for its founder Hedwig von Rittberg, in Berlin-Lichterfelde. The Florence Nightingale Medal is an international award presented to those distinguished in nursing and named after British nurse Florence Nightingale. The medal was established in 1912 by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), following the Eighth International Conference of Red Cross Societies in London in 1907. It is the highest international distinction a nurse can achieve and is awarded to nurses or nursing aides for ''"exceptional courage and devotion to the wounded, sick or disabled or to civilian victims of a conflict or disaster"'' or ''"exemplary services or a creative and pioneering spirit in the areas of public health or nursing education"''. Thomas Elsbeth
Thomas Elsbeth (? – after 1624) was a German composer. Details of Elsbeth's life are few and vague. Elsbeth was born in Neustadt, Franconia; his birth date is totally unknown, although he did refer to himself as "poor and old" in 1616. Since his early publications were issued in Frankfurt an der Oder, he is thought to have been an acquaintance of Bartholomäus Gesius, the '' kantor'' there. He may have attended Viadrina University in Frankfurt, though modern scholars have been unable to substantiate this with archival research. He dedicated a publication to the city councilmen of Breslau, and may have spent time there. He also published several books of works in Liegnitz after 1606, and so it is probable that he lived there for some time. However, he is not listed in any of the surviving city payrolls.
