Old Sakshaug Church
Old Sakshaug Church ( no, Sakshaug gamle kirke) is a preserved, former parish church of the Church of Norway in Inderøy municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Sakshaug, just west of the municipal centre of Straumen. It is the former main church for the Inderøy parish which is part of the Stiklestad prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The stone church was built in a long church style around the year 1184 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 200 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1433, but the church was not built that year. The stone church was likely constructed over a period of time stretching from about 1150 to 1180. The medieval church is one of the oldest churches in Trøndelag. Sakshaug Church
Sakshaug Church ( no, Sakshaug kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Inderøy municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Sakshaug, just west of the municipal centre of Straumen. It is the main church for the Inderøy parish which is part of the Stiklestad prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The large, stone church was built in a Neo-gothic long church style in 1871 using plans drawn up by the architect Håkon Mosling (1840-1914). The church seats about 850 people. History The church was built to replace the medieval Old Sakshaug Church located about to the northwest of the new church. An increase in the population in the parish and the requirements of the Church Act of 1851 led to the building of the new church. Straumen is the administrative centre of the municipality of Inderøy in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located along the Trondheimsfjord at the northeastern side of the Inderøya peninsula, next to the Børgin fjord. Utøy
Utøy or Utøya is a village area in the municipality of Inderøy in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village sits about half way between the village of Vangshylla (to the southwest) and the village of Sakshaug (to the northeast). The village of Kjerknesvågen lies about to the north and the Trondheimsfjord lies just to the south. The "Utøy area" generally includes the area around the village which is the southern part of the Inderøya peninsula. Economy The predominant employment in for the Utøy area is agriculture, as in the rest of Inderøy, in addition to functioning as a suburb of Steinkjer, Verdal, and Levanger. The peninsula constitutes the northern (more populated) part of the municipality of Inderøy (which is named after the peninsula). The road runs from the village of Røra in the municipality of Inderøy to the village of Vanvikan in Indre Fosen municipality. It was known as Norwegian National Road 755 () before 2010 when control of the road was transferred from the national government to the county.
