Sainte-Claire is a village in the Bellechasse Regional County Municipality, part of the Chaudière-Appalaches administrative region of Quebec, Canada. It has a population of 3,243. Frampton, Quebec
Frampton is a municipality in La Nouvelle-Beauce Regional County Municipality in the Chaudière-Appalaches administrative region of Quebec. After the War of 1812, in the time of land grants were given to soldiers in the region as reward for their service to the British Crown. Brothers William and Gilbert Henderson, originally of the Shetland Islands, and Pierre-Edouard Desbarats, partnered in developing Frampton Township along with the surrounding towns of Saint-Malachie, where both Henderson brothers are buried, and Standon Township. The towns grew with the influx of Irish immigrants to Canada after the war. It is said that the well-read William Henderson gave the town the name Frampton in honour of Mary Frampton, an author in England from that period. Saint-Malachie, Quebec
Saint-Malachie is a village of about 1,500 people in the Bellechasse Regional County Municipality, part of the Chaudière-Appalaches administrative region. The Etchemin River goes through the municipality. History St. Malachie was colonized by the Irish and Scottish shortly after the War of 1812. The land was given to several British soldiers in the eastern part of the township of Frampton along the Etchemin River. The land was then given to Gilbert Henderson (1785-1876) who later became the major landowner in this area. The first settlers came mostly from Armagh, a religious town in Northern Ireland. The town was named St. Malachy after the Arch Bishop of Armagh. The town was civilly erected in 1874, and would later give its name to the municipality of Saint-Malachi-de-Frampton (Frampton Township), but changed once more to St. Malachie in 1948. Honfleur () is a municipality of approximately 850 people in the Bellechasse Regional County Municipality in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec. The Boyer River takes its source in the municipality. History Founded in 1904, the municipality of Honfleur is similar to Honfleur, city in Calvados, Normandie, where many sailors came from during the 16th and 17th century to North America. Eugène Prévost (1898 – 1965) was a French Canadian carpenter who initially specialized in producing church pews and school furniture. After receiving a commission in 1924 to fabricate and install a wooden bus shell on a new chassis, his business gradually evolved to one that emphasized the production of coach buses and motor homes. ''Les Ateliers Prévost'' was acquired in 1957 and renamed Prévost Car. Etchemin River
The Etchemin River is a river in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of eastern Quebec. It gave its name to Les Etchemins Regional County Municipality. The river itself was named for the Abenaki native people of the area who the French called "les Etchemins." The source of the river is not Etchemin Lake but a little east of the lake, in Saint-Luc-de-Bellechasse. The Etchemin River, which had become been the victim of pollution for decades, became the topic of conversation in 1993, when a few residents of Saint-Léon-de-Standon began work on a project to revive the Atlantic salmon in the river. The project was scoffed at in the beginning since damming and logging along the Etchemin's shore and agricultural runoff and dumping had polluted the river so much that Atlantic salmon had been last seen there two centuries earlier.
