Saint Seiya Original Soundtrack I–VIII
The Saint Seiya Original Soundtrack I–VIII are eight CDs, released independently, containing the original soundtrack (OST) of the ''Saint Seiya'' anime. In addition to the music from the anime, these CDs also include the OSTs from four of the ''Saint Seiya'' movies: '' Evil Goddess Eris'', '' The Heated Battle of the Gods'', '' Legend of Crimson Youth'' and '' Warriors of the Final Holy Battle''. The music was composed by Seiji Yokoyama and interpreted by the Andromeda Armonique Orchestra. The female voice acting in all of the albums was Kazuko Kawashima (川島和子). It was one of the first soundtracks to be released not with traditional J-Pop songs, but as background music. Seiji Yokoyama
was a Japanese incidental music composer from Hiroshima. He graduated from the Kunitachi College of Music in 1957. Yokoyama is best known for his work on the anime series ''Saint Seiya'' and ''Space Pirate Captain Harlock'', and for his symphonic sound for many television programs. In 1992, he won the JASRAC award for his work on ''Saint Seiya''. On July 8, 2017, Yokoyama died from pneumonia at age 82. J-Pop
J-pop ( ja, ジェイポップ, ''jeipoppu''; often stylized as J-POP; an abbreviated form of "Japanese popular music"), natively also known simply as , is the name for a form of popular music that entered the musical mainstream of Japan in the 1990s. Modern J-pop has its roots in traditional music of Japan, and significantly in 1960s pop and rock music. J-pop replaced ''kayōkyoku'' ("Lyric Singing Music", a term for Japanese popular music from the 1920s to the 1980s) in the Japanese music scene. J-rock bands such as Happy End fused the Beatles and Beach Boys-style rock with Japanese music in the 1960s1970s. Albums By Japanese Artists
An album is a collection of audio recordings issued on compact disc (CD), vinyl, audio tape, or another medium such as digital distribution. Albums of recorded sound were developed in the early 20th century as individual 78 rpm records collected in a bound book resembling a photograph album; this format evolved after 1948 into single vinyl long-playing (LP) records played at rpm. The album was the dominant form of recorded music expression and consumption from the mid-1960s to the early 21st century, a period known as the album era. Pegasus Fantasy
is a song by Japanese metal band Make-Up. Serving as the band's fourth major release single, "Pegasus Fantasy" and its B-side were used as the theme songs for the first half of the original ''Saint Seiya'' anime. "Pegasus Fantasy" became Make-Up's most successful release, and they have re-released the song several times since its initial release in 1986. After releasing a "21st century ver." on their mini-album ''The Voice from Yesterday'', Make-Up released a new edition of the song in 2012, subtitled "Version Omega", which features Shoko Nakagawa, the voice actress for Athena, on guest vocals and is used as the opening theme song for the re-imagined ''Saint Seiya Omega'' anime. "Pegasus Fantasy Version Omega" reached number 29 on the Oricon's weekly rankings. Due to the series' high popularity in Japan and the rest of the world, four films based on ''Saint Seiya'' were released in theatres between 1987 and 1989, while the original TV series was still airing.
