2011 Pan American Games
The 2011 Pan American Games, officially the XVI Pan American Games, was an international multi-sport event that was held from October 14–30, 2011, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Some events were held in the nearby cities of Ciudad Guzmán, Puerto Vallarta, Lagos de Moreno and Tapalpa. It was the largest multi-sport event of 2011, with approximately 6,000 athletes from 42 nations participating in 36 sports. Both the Pan American and Parapan American Games were organized by the Guadalajara 2011 Organizing Committee (COPAG). The 2011 Pan American Games were the third Pan American Games hosted by Mexico (the first country to do so) and the first held in the state of Jalisco. Levern Spencer
Levern Donaline Spencer, SLMM (born 23 June 1984 in Cacao Babonneau, Castries ) is a Saint Lucian retired athlete and high jumper. Spencer was a four-time Olympian for Saint Lucia and competed in eight World Championships. She was also a gold medalist at both the Commonwealth Games and Pan-American Games. Biography Early career Born in Castries, Spencer attended the University of Georgia in the United States. She earned a bachelor's degree from Georgia in Health Promotion and Behavior, having first embarked upon a course of study in computer science. She competed at several CARIFTA Games, bringing home gold in 2001. That same year, she earned the bronze medal at the World Youth Championships in Athletics in Debrecen, Hungary, jumping 1.81 m. Danielle Beaubrun (born May 6, 1990 in Saint Lucia) is an Olympic and National Record holding swimmer from the Caribbean island nation of Saint Lucia. She swam for Saint Lucia at the 2008 Olympic Games, where she was the youngest member of the country's Olympic team, and again at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Early career Danielle started her swimming career at the age of five with 'learn to swim' classes with the Sea Jays Swim Club, as she became more able, she started competing competitively, coached by her mother, Karen Beaubrun. Six years later, at the age of eleven, she began her training with the Cuban coach, Claribel Blanco with the Rodney Heights swim club. She remained here from March 2002 till December 2004.
