L'Islet is a municipality within L'Islet Regional County Municipality in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec, Canada. It is located on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River halfway between Quebec City and Rivière-du-Loup. The Musée Maritime du Québec (Quebec Marine Museum) is located there on Route 132. History and geography The current town of L'Islet was formed in 2000 with the merger of the former city of L'Islet, the municipality of L'Islet-sur-Mer, and the parish municipality of Saint-Eugène. Cap-Saint-Ignace is a municipality in the Montmagny Regional County Municipality within the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec, Canada. It is located on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River, 70 km east of Quebec City on Route 132. Saint-Marcel is a municipality in Quebec located in the MRC de L'Islet in the Chaudière-Appalaches. As of the 2016 census, the population of Saint-Marcel is 428. Geography Saint-Marcel is located 130 miles from Quebec southeast of the Chaudière-Appalaches region, in the Côte-du-Sud area, on the Appalachian Plateau. Near the Canada–US border, it is halfway between Sainte-Felicite and Sainte-Apolline-de-Patton. The landscape consists of rolling hills and valleys of between 250 and 450 meters (800–1500 feet). Tourville, Quebec
Tourville is a municipality in the L'Islet RCM in Quebec, Canada. It is located in the Chaudière-Appalaches administrative region. History The parish of Saint-Clément-de-Tourville, which served as a mission from 1913-1919, was officially founded in 1919 by an abbot named Bernard-Édouard Martin. The citizens wished to name it Martinville in his honour, but since there was another post office that had been established under this name, they opted for Tourville, which also honours Saint Martin of Tours. A road to the village (today known as Route 204), was constructed between 1854 and 1859. At that time, the village had already been taking advantage of the abundant wood, particularly pine. In 1856, a farmer from Saint-Roch-des-Aulnaies settled near Black Lake and lowered its water level by digging an outlet in hopes of making a pasture.
