Saint-Aubert is a municipality in Quebec, situated in the L'Islet Regional County Municipality and the Chaudière-Appalaches administrative region. Saint-Aubert lies in the Côte-du-Sud federal electoral district. Geography Saint-Aubert is situated between St-Jean-Port-Joli and Saint-Damase-de-L'Islet, not far from the southern coast of the Saint Lawrence River, some from Quebec City. The landscape of Saint-Aubert is defined by its plateaus and hills. Near the village, one may find part of the Notre Dame Mountains, which are an extension of the Appalachians, as well as Three-Salmon Lake (''Lac Trois-Saumons''). Economy The village's primary activities are agriculture and maple syrup production. Many from outside the region also choose to spend their holidays here; there is a significant summer camp called ''Camp Trois-Saumons'', which was founded in 1947 on the banks of its eponymous lake. L'Islet is a municipality within L'Islet Regional County Municipality in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec, Canada. The manorial system of New France, known as the seigneurial system (french: Régime seigneurial), was the semi- feudal system of land tenure used in the North American French colonial empire. Both in nominal and legal terms, all French territorial claims in North America belonged to the French king. French monarchs did not impose feudal land tenure on New France, and the king's actual attachment to these lands was virtually non-existent. Instead, landlords were allotted land holdings known as manors and presided over the French colonial agricultural system in North America. Saint Aubert, also known as Saint Autbert, was bishop of Avranches in the 8th century and is credited with founding Mont Saint-Michel. Life Aubert lived in France during the reign of Childebert III (695-711) and died about 720. He was born of a noble family from Genetas, and received an extensive education. When the See of Avranches became vacant, Aubert, known for his wisdom and piety, was chosen bishop. Legend In 708 Aubert had a vision in which the Archangel Michael instructed him to build an oratory on the rocky tidal island at the mouth of the Couesnon. Brother Marie-Victorin, F.S.C. (April 3, 1885 – July 15, 1944), was a Canadian member of Brothers of the Christian Schools and a noted botanist in Quebec, Canada.
