Saimaa University of Applied Sciences ( fi, Saimaan ammattikorkeakoulu) was a university of applied sciences in the region of South Karelia, Finland. Before 2009, it was known as ''South Karelia University of Applied Sciences'' (). Its campuses located in Lappeenranta. Saimaa University of Applied Sciences had had campus in Imatra, but it closed, and all the functions were moved to Lappeenranta. An ammattikorkeakoulu (yrkeshögskola in Swedish, polytechnic or university of applied sciences in English), abbreviated ''AMK'', is a Finnish institution of higher education. The term literally means "school of higher vocational education". Although the term is often translated into English as "polytechnic", the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture and the Rectors' Conference of Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences use the term "university of applied sciences".
