In 2011, British music magazine '' The Wire'' described the label as "one of the best American labels in recent years", and ''Billboard Magazine'' listed Sacred Bones among the 50 best indie labels in America. Experimental Music
Experimental music is a general label for any music or music genre that pushes existing boundaries and genre definitions. Experimental compositional practice is defined broadly by exploratory sensibilities radically opposed to, and questioning of, institutionalized compositional, performing, and aesthetic conventions in music. Elements of experimental music include indeterminate music, in which the composer introduces the elements of chance or unpredictability with regard to either the composition or its performance. Artists may also approach a hybrid of disparate styles or incorporate unorthodox and unique elements. The practice became prominent in the mid-20th century, particularly in Europe and North America. John Cage was one of the earliest composers to use the term and one of experimental music's primary innovators, utilizing indeterminacy techniques and seeking unknown outcomes. Black Marble
Black Marble is an American music project formed in 2011 in Brooklyn, New York. It is led by electronic music, electronic musician Chris Stewart and formerly featured Ty Kube of Team Robespierre. History Black Marble began in March 2011, officially releasing their debut EP on Hardly Art titled ''Weight Against the Door'' in 2012. Also in 2012, Black Marble released its first full-length album on Hardly Art titled ''A Different Arrangement''. These works were described as "throwbacks to the Cold wave (music), cold-wave genre" by Leo Neufeld of the ''Miami New Times''. Mort Garson
Morton Sanford Garson (20 July 1924 – 4 January 2008) was a Canadian composer, arranger, songwriter, and pioneer of electronic music. He is best known for his albums in the 1960s and 1970s, such as '' Mother Earth's Plantasia'' (1976), He also co-wrote several hit songs, including " Our Day Will Come", a hit for Ruby & the Romantics. According to Allmusic, "Mort Garson boasts one of the most unique and outright bizarre resumés in popular music, spanning from easy listening to occult-influenced space-age electronic pop." Jozef Van Wissem
Jozef van Wissem (born 22 November 1962) is a Dutch minimalist composer and lute player based in Brooklyn. In 2013 Van Wissem won the Cannes Soundtrack Award for the score of '' Only Lovers Left Alive'' at the Cannes Film Festival. Career Jozef van Wissem was born in Maastricht. An incessantly touring musician, Van Wissem studied lute in New York with Patrick O'Brien in 1990s. The Holydrug Couple
The Holydrug Couple is a psychedelic rock duo from Santiago, Chile consisting of Ives Sepúlveda and Manuel Parra. History The pair, Ives and Manu, started making music together in 2008, a little over a half-decade after they met. They hadn't seen each other in years when Manu texted Ives to tell him that he'd bought a drum kit. They started jamming and, within a week, they had formed the band. They released their first album in 2011 titled ''Awe'' via BYM Records. Shortly after the release, the band caught the attention of Sacred Bones Records, who signed the band to their label. Hilary Woods
Hilary Woods is an Irish musician born in Dublin. She is a solo artist, previously a member of the alternative rock band JJ72, with which she played bass guitar from 1996 until 2003. JJ72 had success with two Top 20 albums in the early 2000s with Woods as the bassist. She quit the music industry until 2014, returning with her first solo EP entitled ''Night''. Woods' solo albums have a gentle, ambient folk sound with "nocturnal keyboard-based songs." Jenny Hval (born 11 July 1980) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter, record producer, musician, and novelist. Daniel Davies is a British-American composer, musician and songwriter. He is best known for his contributions to horror director John Carpenter's ''Lost Themes'' and ''Lost Themes II'' albums, and for his work with rock bands Year Long Disaster, Karma to Burn, and CKY.
