SV Wienerberg
SV Wienerberg is an Austrian association football club from Vienna. The club was founded as ''ASV Wienerberg'' (Arbeiter Sportverein, ''Workers' Sports Club'') in 1921 by Czech immigrants, primarily labourers from the local brickworks - today's global construction material producer Wienerberger - at the hill ''Wienerberg'' in the Viennese district of Favoriten. The company lent its support and provided the grounds. The club took on its current name in 1970. From 1929 to 1934 the club played in the league of the labour movement, the ''Vereinigung der Amateur-Fußballvereine Österreichs'' (VAFÖ). Greatest successes of the club are the two stints in the Austrian second division, the Regional League East, from 1962 to 1968 and from 1970 to 1973, achieving second places in 1970 and 1972. The Wiener Stadtliga is an Austrian Landesliga conference, one of the fourth-highest soccer leagues in Austrian football. Mode In the Wiener Stadtliga, a total of 16 football clubs from Vienna and the neighboring province of Lower Austria participate. All clubs are members of the Vienna Football Association. The champion of Wiener Stadtliga rises directly in the third-highest division of Austria, the Austrian Regional League East. Football is the most popular sport in Austria. The Austrian Football Association, the ''ÖFB'' (''Österreichischer Fußball-Bund''), was founded in 1904 and has been a member of FIFA since then. Despite the sport's popularity, except for a successful streak in the early 1930s, the country's national team has not been successful in tournaments. Austria played their first ever European championship as a qualifier in 2016, but finished last in their group and failed to advance. Their only prior appearance in the European championship was in 2008 (when it co-hosted the championship with Switzerland and was thus exempt from qualification), but was promptly eliminated already at the group stage. A brickworks, also known as a brick factory, is a factory for the manufacturing of bricks, from clay or shale. Usually a brickworks is located on a clay bedrock (the most common material from which bricks are made), often with a quarry for clay on site. The Austrian Cup (german: ÖFB-Cup), known as UNIQA ÖFB Cup for sponsorship purposes, is an annual football competition held by the Austrian Football Association, the ÖFB. During the 2008–09 season, Austria Wien won the tournament for 27th time, a record. Walter Zeman (1 May 1927 - 8 August 1991) was an Austrian football goalkeeper and an integral part of the second Austrian ''Wunderteam'' of the 1950s.
