SMC Recordings
SMC Recordings is an independent hip hop record label established in 2005 in Del Valle, Texas, by Charles Vasquez, Micheal Luna, and Saroj Thapa. SMC primarily signs and distributes established hip hop artists. SMC grew out of a vision that Saroj Thapa had in early 2000s to launch a new kind of record label, one based in his hometown, that would be about hip hop music. Saroj crossed paths with Micheal Luna and Charles Vasquez, and SMC came one step closer to being realized. An ambitious Bay Area-bred music fan and aficionado, Bronson was covering East Texas's colorful hip hop scene for a fledgling urban music magazine called ''Showcase'' at the time. Saroj hired him as his partner and in the A&R position. His instincts were right—the first release brought in and shepherded by Bronson was Ya Boy's first cousins, Bay Area hip-hop artists San Quinn and Messy Marv. Gilbert Anthony Milam Jr., better known by his stage name Berner (born October 27, 1983), is an American rapper and entrepreneur signed to Wiz Khalifa's Taylor Gang Entertainment. Phillip Anthony Beasley (born January 30, 1983), known professionally as Philthy Rich is an American rapper. He first began his career in 2007 when he recruited fellow rappers Mistah F.A.B., J. Stalin, Shady Nate, Beeda Weeda, Ray Ryda, Eddi Projex & Lil Al tha Gamer to come on tour with him. The tour, "Stan Bizzness BG's", was cancelled after Philthy was arrested for selling cocaine and cannabis, after which he was sentenced to a year in jail. Husalah
James "Husalah" Ratliff (born May 13, 1979), is an American rapper from Pittsburg, California. He began his career with the Pittsburg group the Mob Figaz, whose first album, ''C-Bo's Mob Figaz'', was released in 1999. Like his late close friend The Jacka, Husalah is a Muslim, and frequently references Islam in his lyrics. He has released three solo studio albums (''Dope, Guns and Religion'', ''Hustlin’ Since the ‘80s'', and ''The H''), as well as numerous group projects. The Jacka
Dominick Newton (August 12, 1977 – February 2, 2015), better known by his stage name The Jacka, was an American rapper from Pittsburg, California. The Jacka began his career as part of the rap group Mob Figaz. He was killed in a shooting in Oakland, California, on February 2, 2015. The murder is currently unsolved. Early life Newton was born to 14-year-old parents and became the family breadwinner as a teenager, a role that landed him in prison for a year at age 18. The Pack (group)
The Pack was a hip hop group formed in Berkeley, California in 2004. The group consisted of Lil B (Brandon McCartney), Young L (Lloyd Omadhebo), Stunnaman (Keith Jenkins), and Lil Uno (Damonte Johnson). They all recorded together for over a year at Young L's home studio where they released their first two mixtapes '' Wolfpack Muzik Vol. 1'' and '' Wolfpack Muzik Vol. 2''. David Brown (born 1983), better known by his stage name Roscoe, is an American rapper. He released his debut album, ''Young Roscoe Philaphornia'', in 2003, with the album debuting at #148 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Lamont Coleman (May 30, 1974February 15, 1999), known professionally as Big L, was an American rapper and record executive. Emerging from Harlem in New York City in 1992, Coleman became known among underground hip-hop fans for his freestyling ability. Anthony H. Forté (born March 2, 1968), better known by his stage name Rappin' 4-Tay, is an American rapper from San Francisco, California.
