SAMAX Motorsport was a racing team owned by Peter Baron that competed primarily in the Rolex Sports Car Series but also spent one year in the IndyCar Series. Team history The team was founded in 2005 by fielding a car for Mark Greenberg at the 6 Hours of Mont Tremblant. Shortly after that race the team ran the #7 Riley-Pontiac Daytona Prototype co-owned by millionaire businessman Brian Tuttle, Greg Wilkins and Dave Lacey and the #17 Porsche 911 GT3 in Grand Am. In 2006, Milka Duno joined the Daytona Prototype team, bringing with her sponsorship from Citgo. The team of Duno, Patrick Carpentier, Darren Manning, and Ryan Dalziel finished 2nd overall in the 2007 24 Hours of Daytona, the team's best Grand Am finish and the best finish in a major sports car race for a female driver. Rolex Sports Car Series
The Rolex Sports Car Series was the premier series run by the Grand American Road Racing Association. It was a North American-based sports car series founded in 2000 under the name Grand American Road Racing Championship to replace the failed United States Road Racing Championship. Rolex took over as series sponsor in 2002. It ran a mixture of classes of sports prototypes and Grand Touring-style cars. In 2003, the series debuted their custom prototype chassis, known as Daytona Prototypes, named after their premiere event, the Rolex 24 at Daytona. The series staged the North American Endurance Championship, featuring three of its premier races at Daytona, Watkins Glen, and Indianapolis. The 2007 Indy Japan 300 was an IndyCar Series motor race held on April 21, 2007, at the Twin Ring Motegi in Motegi, Tochigi, Japan. 2007 IndyCar Series Season
The 2007 IRL IndyCar Series began with a night race on Saturday March 24 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The season's premiere event, the 91st Indianapolis 500 was held May 27. The season finale was held at Chicagoland Speedway on September 9. Dario Franchitti, who won four races during the season, including the Indy 500, clinched the 2007 IndyCar Series championship after he won the final race of the season at Chicagoland Speedway, after points leader Scott Dixon ran out of fuel in turn 3 of the final lap. At the conclusion of the season, Danica Patrick was voted Most Popular Driver for the third consecutive year. All races were televised on the ESPN family of networks. Henri Zogaib (born 5 July 1973 in Beirut, Lebanon) is a Lebanese-born American racing driver and convicted scam artist. Zogaib primarily ran in the Rolex Sports Car Series. Racing career After graduating from the Skip Barber Racing School Zogaib's first appearance in professional auto racing came at California Speedway in the Grand-Am Cup.
