Sükhbaatar (district)
Sükhbaatar District () is one of nine districts of the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar. It is subdivided into 18 subdistricts. The district was established in 1965 and named after revolutionary hero Damdin Sükhbaatar. As of 2004, it had an approximate population of 112,533 in 24,568 households. This district marks the center of the city. Sükhbaatar Square
Sükhbaatar Square (, ''Sükhbaataryn talbai'') is the central square of Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. The square was named for Mongolian revolutionary hero Damdin Sükhbaatar after his death in 1923, and features a monumental equestrian statue of him in its center. The Government Palace is located to the north of the square, and has a large colonnade monument containing statues of Genghis Khan in the centre, with Ögedei Khan and Kublai Khan to the left and right. The central statue of Genghis Khan is flanked by Bo'orchu and Muqali. The square's name was changed to Chinggis Square (, pronounced ''Chinggisiin Talbai'') in 2013 in honor of Genghis Khan, but the original name was restored in 2016. National Art Gallery Of Mongolia
The National Art Gallery of Mongolia () is a government-supported art gallery in Sükhbaatar District, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. It exhibits Mongolian modern art. There are about 4200 pieces in the museum's permanent collection, with only 7-8% being on display. The museum is constantly collecting new pieces. In addition, the museum also organizes temporary exhibitions and also shows them aboard. History The gallery separated from the Fine Arts Museum of Mongolia in 1991. In 2020, 17 paintings were transferred here from the Green Palace, where they had been kept since 1986. Mongolian Theatre Museum
Mongolian Theatre Museum () was founded in 1991 to preserve and present the traditions and artifacts of the performing arts in Mongolia and to do research in this area.According to the museum's English-language flyer, the mission of the museum is "To preserve a cultural heritage connected operforming art's and make a significant contribution to the public knowledge on art." The museum is located in the Central Cultural Palace Building, on Amar Street, just off Sükhbaatar Square in Sükhbaatar District, Ulaanbaatar. On display are paintings of leading actors, playbills, photographs, models, costumes etc. from the state central theatre. Included are artifacts and photographs pertaining to dance, circus, opera, music and puppet theatre as well as traditional theatre. Korea-Mongolia Friendship Forest
The Korea-Mongolia Friendship Forest (previously known as Forest Research and Development Center Arboretum Park) is a forest in Sükhbaatar District, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. History The establishment of the forest was made as part of the second phase of Korea-Mongolia Greenbelt Reforestation Initiative. The project started in 2017 where the design was made and approved by 2018. In 2019, the soil treatment was performed. In 2020, a training and information center was constructed. It was jointly established by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia and Korea Forest Service. It was opened in 2023. Geology The forest spans over an area of 40 hectares. It has a total of 55,000 trees and shrubs from 36 different plant species. Architecture The forest features bicycle path, playground, sports area and car parks. ASA Arena
The ASA Arena (), formerly Mongolian National Circus (), is a circus and event venue in Sükhbaatar District, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. History The circus building was built in 1971 with a US$7.4 million loan from Romania. In 2008, the circus was privatized by former sumo grand champion Asashoryu D.Dagvadorj and then renamed the venue as Asa Circus. In 2020, the interior of the circus underwent renovation.
