Søvik is a village and a regional service center in Ålesund Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located in the northwestern part of Ålesund Municipality, along the sea, just southeast of the islands of Bjørnøya and Terøya. The area was part of the municipality of Borgund until 1965 and then it was part of Haram Municipality until 2020 when it joined Ålesund. Borgund, Møre Og Romsdal
Borgund is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1837 until 1968 when it was merged into Ålesund Municipality. Borgund originally encompassed the large area north of the Storfjorden and south of the Grytafjorden, from the mainland areas of today's Skodje Municipality in the east to the islands of today's Giske Municipality and the ocean in the west. The city of Ålesund was located in the central part of Borgund, however, was not part of Borgund, and it was governed separately. At its dissolution in 1968, the municipality included the islands of Sula, Humla, Tørla, and Ellingsøya, as well as parts of Oksenøya, Hessa, and Nørvøya, plus many minor islands throughout the area. Hamnsund Church
Hamnsund Church ( no, Hamnsund kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Ålesund Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located in the village of Søvik. It is the church for the Hamnsund parish which is part of the Nordre Sunnmøre prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Møre. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1875 using plans drawn up by the architect Hagbart Brinchmann. The church seats about 350 people. Haram is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It was part of the Sunnmøre region. The administrative center was Brattvåg, the industrial center of Sunnmøre. Terøya (or ''Terøy'') is a small, populated island in Ålesund Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The population of Terøya (about 200-300 people) is concentrated on the southern and eastern parts of the island. Terøya is connected to the village of Søvik on the mainland by a causeway on the east side. The island of Bjørnøya lies to the west of the island. The two islands are separated by the wide ''Bjørnøysundet'' strait.
