Finnmark
Finnmark (; se, Finnmárku ; fkv, Finmarku; fi, Ruija ; russian: Финнмарк) was a county in the northern part of Norway, and it is scheduled to become a county again in 2024. On 1 January 2020, Finnmark was merged with the neighbouring county of Troms to form the new Troms og Finnmark county. On 1 January 2024, the county will be demerged back to the counties Finnmark and Troms, after a decision made by parliament on 15 June 2022. Sørvær Chapel
Sørvær Chapel ( no, Sørvær kapell) is a chapel of the Church of Norway in Hasvik Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. It is located in the village of Sørvær on the western tip of the island of Sørøya. It is an annex chapel for the Hasvik parish which is part of the Alta prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland. The white chapel, made of stone and wood, was built in a long church style in 1968 using plans drawn up by the architect Sverre Flåto. The church seats about 100 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1589, but the church was likely built much earlier. By 1697, the old church was quite dilapidated and so it was torn down and not replaced. After more than 250 years, a new chapel was built on the same site. The chapel was completed in 1968. Sørøya
Sørøya ( sme, Sállan) is Norway's fourth largest island in terms of area. The island is divided between Hasvik Municipality and Hammerfest Municipality. It is often claimed to be "one of the most beautiful" of the islands in Norway. In 2018, the population of the island was 1,100. The island is very rocky and mountainous. The highest point on the island is the tall mountain Komagaksla on the southern shore of the island. The coastline is very jagged and has numerous fjords that cut inland from the open ocean.
