Sørfolda
or is a fjord in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in Sørfold Municipality and Bodø Municipality. The Sørfolda is a southeastern branch of the main Folda, Nordland, Folda fjord. Side branches include the Nevelsfjorden, Eidekjosen, Skjunkfjorden, and Leirfjorden (Sørfold), Leirfjorden. The deepest part of the fjord reaches below sea level. The village of Straumen, Nordland, Straumen is located at the innermost end of the Sørfolda. The village of Røsvika sits on the western shore of the fjord, about halfway along the fjord. Sørfold is a List of municipalities of Norway, municipality in Nordland Counties of Norway, county, Norway. It is part of the Districts of Norway, traditional district of Salten. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Straumen, Nordland, Straumen. Other villages in the municipality include Leirfjordgården, Mørsvikbotn, Røsvika, Rørstad, Styrkesvik, and Øvre Kvarv. The municipality surrounds the Sørfolda fjord and stretches east to the border with Sweden. The municipality is the 48th largest by area out of the 357 municipalities in Norway. Sørfold is the 290th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 1,858.
