Séamus McGuinness
Séamus "Jim" McGuinness (1930 – 6 January 2008) was an Irish Gaelic footballer whose league and championship career at senior level with the Dublin county team spanned eight seasons from 1950 to 1958. McGuinness made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of nineteen when he was selected for the Dublin junior team. He played one championship season with the junior team, culminating with the winning of a Leinster medal in 1949. McGuinness subsequently joined the Dublin senior team during the 1950–51 league. During his career he won one Leinster medal and one National Football League medal. He retired from inter-county football due to injury in 1958. He was not fully fit on the day of the 1955 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final. Rush, County Dublin
Rush ( ga, Ros Eó , meaning 'peninsula of the yew trees'), officially ''An Ros'', is a small seaside commuter town in Fingal, Ireland. It was one of the few towns of the historic County Dublin. Rush lies on the Irish Sea coast, between Skerries and Lusk, and has a small harbour. It had a population at the 2011 census of 9,231. Rush was once known as the "market garden of Ireland" for the large role market gardening played in its economy and culture. In the 21st century, Rush is no longer a major centre of national horticulture and has instead evolved into a growing commuter town on the northern fringes of the Greater Dublin Area. Geography Rush lies on the Irish Sea coast, on the angle where the R128 regional road turns from running east–west from Lusk to go north–south to Skerries. It has a small harbour. The 1955 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 69th staging of Ireland's premier Gaelic football knock-out competition. Meath were the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Dublin in the Leinster final. Kerry were the winners. Note Quarter Finals were back in the Munster championship but Clare only skipped 1 year. Limerick, not part of the championship between 1953 and 1964, were approved to host Waterford in the Quarter Final but did not play them. Dublin Junior Football Championship
The Dublin Junior Football championship is the Junior Gaelic Athletic Association Gaelic football competition of Dublin. The winners of the Junior championship go on to qualify for the Dublin Intermediate Football Championship. The winners will also represent Dublin in the Leinster Junior Club Football Championship. St Vincent's are the most successful club in the Junior A championship having won the competition on six occasions, with their most recent victory in 2014 beating Craobh Ciarain in the final. New format In 2018, the grading system of Junior Championships was drastically changed. The Dublin Junior Football Championship is divided between Junior 1 and 2. Junior 1 consists of 16 teams who are divided into four groups of four. The top two sides in each group are then included in an open draw for the quarter finals of the championship. Leinster Senior Football Championship
The Leinster Senior Football Championship, known simply as the Leinster Championship and shortened to Leinster SFC, is an annual inter-county Gaelic football competition organised by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county Gaelic football competition in the province of Leinster, and has been contested every year since the 1888 championship. The final, currently held on the fourth Sunday in June, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during May and June, and the results determine which team receives the Delaney Cup. The championship has always been played on a straight knockout basis whereby once a team loses they are eliminated from the championship.
