Séamus Looney
James V. Looney (1950 – 6 June 2022), known as Séamus Looney, was an Irish former hurler and Gaelic footballer. At club level he played with St Finbarr's and University College Cork and was also a member of the Cork senior teams as a dual player. In spite of a brief senior career, he was one of the most decorated players of his generation having won ten All-Ireland medals at various levels between 1967 and 1975. Career Born in Cork, Looney first came to prominence at colleges level with Coláiste Chríost Rí. After winning provincial colleges titles in both codes in 1968, he subsequently won a Hogan Cup title. Looney simultaneously made his first impact on the club scene and won a County Hurling Championship title with St Finbarr's in his first full season. Munster Senior Club Football Championship
The Munster Senior Club Football Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the AIB Munster GAA Football Senior Club Championship) is an annual Gaelic football competition for the champion clubs of each county. It has been organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1964. The series of games are played during the autumn and winter months with the final usually being played in late November. The prize for the winning team is the O'Connor Cup. The championship has always been played on a straight knockout basis whereby once a team loses they are eliminated from the championship. 1969 Cork Senior Football Championship
The 1969 Cork Senior Football Championship was the 81st staging of the Cork Senior Football Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The draw for the opening round fixtures took place on 26 January 1969. The championship ran from 6 April to 26 October 1969. Carbery entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by St. Nicholas' in the quarter-finals. The final was played on 26 October 1969 at the Athletic Grounds in Cork between University College Cork and St. Nicholas' in what was their first meeting in the final in six years. Corn Uí Mhuirí is the cup presented to the winners of the Munster colleges senior "A" football championship, the top level Gaelic football championship for secondary schools in Munster. The winners advance to the Hogan Cup, which is the All-Ireland colleges senior "A" football championship. The competition begins with a round-robin system of four groups of three teams. The top two teams in each group advance to the knock-out stage. The competition was established in 1927 by Dr. Eamon O'Sullivan and Canon Breen at a meeting in Mallow. The holders are St Brendan's College, Killarney, who defeated Tralee CBS in the 2022 Final, played at Fitzgerald Stadium on 29 January 2022. The 1968 Hogan Cup was the 15th staging of the Hogan Cup since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1946. The competition ran from 7 April to 5 May 1968. St Colman's College were the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Belcamp College in the semi-final. The final was played on 5 May 1968 at Croke Park in Dublin, between Coláiste Chríost Rí and Belcamp College, in what was their first ever meeting in the final. The Cork county football team represents Cork in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Cork GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The 1970 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 84th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county hurling tournament. The championship began on 3 May 1970 and ended on 6 September 1970. Kilkenny were the defending champions but were defeated by Wexford in the Leinster final.
