Description

The actual name means either from the county of Szilágy or of the noble clan of Szilagyi. The original Hungarian spelling of the name is "Szilágyi"; it has been modified to "Silaghi" in its Romanian variation. The Hungarian letters "Sz" and "gy" are replaced by the similarly pronounced "S" and "g" respectively in the Romanian version of the name. The Szilágyi clan exerted a strong influence over this region of Europe during the late to middle 14th century.

Čaba Silađi ( hu, Szilágyi Csaba, sr-Cyrl, Чаба Силађи; born 23 August 1990) is a Serbian swimmer of Hungarian ethnicity. Silađi mainly competes in the breaststroke. Silađi's hometown Senta is a centre of Hungarians in Vojvodina, though competing for Serbia, Silađi goes by the Serbian form of his name. His name also appears transliterated as Caba Siladji in English sports sources. Career Silađi finished elementary school and gymnasium in Bečej. He began to practice swimming since 1997, and until 2004 he also trained water polo alongside. He lives and trains in Zrenjanin. Zsolt Szilágyi (; born July 29, 1968 in Oradea, Bihor County, Romania) is a Romanian politician, member of the Hungarian People's Party of Transylvania (PPMT). He was a Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR/RMDSZ) deputy for Bihor County in the 1990–2004 period. At the 2009 European Parliament election he occupied the fourth position on the UDMR/RMDSZ list. Zsolt Loránt Szilágyi (born 29 June 1981) is a former Romanian footballer, who spent his entire career at Universitatea Cluj. Péter Zoltán Szilágyi (born 6 January 1981) is a Hungarian jurist and politician, member of the National Assembly (MP) from Politics Can Be Different (LMP) National List between 2010 and 2014. He finished his secondary studies in the Calvinist College of Sárospatak and the Pent Valley Technology College in Folkestone, United Kingdom. He graduated as a jurist from the Pázmány Péter Catholic University in 2005. He is a founding member of the LMP since Spring 2009. Michael Szilágyi de Horogszeg ( hu, horogszegi Szilágyi Mihály; c. 1400 – 1460) was a Hungarian general, Regent of Hungary, Count of Beszterce and Head of Szilágyi–Hunyadi Liga. Family He was born in the early 15th century as vice-ispán of Bács County, son of the captain of Srebrenik, Ladislaus Szilágyi and Catherine Bellyéni. The common noble family derived its name of Horogszegi from its estate in the county of Temes. His sister, Elisabeth, was John Hunyadi's wife.
