Michael Szilágyi de Horogszeg (; c. 1400 – 1460) was a Hungarian general who was Regent of Hungary, Count of Beszterce and Head of Szilágyi–Hunyadi Liga. Family He was born in the early 15th century as vice-ispán of Bács County, son of the captain of Srebrenik, Ladislaus Szilágyi and Catherine Bellyéni. The common noble family derived its name of Horogszegi from its estate in the county of Temes. His sister, Elisabeth, was John Hunyadi's wife. Miguel Szilágyi married Margarita Báthory around 1440 (marriage from which it is known that several children were born, but none reached adulthood). Áron Szilágyi (; born 14 January 1990) is a Hungarian right-handed sabre fencer. A five-time Olympian, Szilágyi is a three-time individual Olympic champion, 2021 team Olympic bronze medalist, and 2024 team Olympic silver medalist. Szilágyi competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the 2012 London Olympic Games, the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, and the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Liliána Szilágyi (born 19 November 1996) is a Hungarian swimmer, who specialized in the butterfly events. Career She collected two medals (gold and silver) in the 100 and 200 m butterfly at the 2012 European Junior Swimming Championships in Antwerp, Belgium. Szilagyi is a member of Kőbánya Swimming Club in Budapest, and is coached and trained by Gyorgyi Turi. She is also the daughter of three-time Olympian and former freestyle swimmer Zoltán Szilágyi (1988, 1992, and 2000). Zsolt Loránt Szilágyi (born 29 June 1981) is a Romanian former footballer who played as a defender, spending his entire career at Universitatea Cluj. He was a fan favorite at '' The Red Caps'' for fidelity proven in time, being nicknamed ''Unicul căpitan'' (). György Szilágyi (4 July 1921 – 30 September 1992), was a Hungarian chess International Master (1956), Chess Olympiad team bronze winner (1956). Biography Szilágyi's first chess win was in 1937, winning the Hungarian Team Chess Championship with his team ''MTK''. He participated twelve times in the Hungarian Chess Championship, with his best performances being 3rd and 4th place in 1950 and 1955, respectively. He was also successful in the Budapest City Chess Championship, winning 1st place in 1961, 3rd place in 1972, and 2nd place in 1973. Dezső Szilágyi (1 April 1840 – 30 July 1901) was a Hungarian politician and jurist, who served as Minister of Justice between 1889 and 1895. Biography Szilágyi was born at Nagyvárad (today: ''Oradea, Romania'') in the Kingdom of Hungary. He studied law at Budapest, Vienna, and in Germany, and early attracted attention with his articles on law and politics. As head of a section in the Ministry of Justice of Hungary, he traveled on a commission from his government to England to study there the conditions of the administration of justice, of which he had a knowledge then equaled by few. Brought up wholly in Liberal ideas, Szilágyi took a conspicuous part in the codification work of the Ministry of Justice.
