Synchysite is a group of carbonate minerals. The three isostructural chemical end members are synchysite-(Ce), synchysite-(Nd) and synchysite-(Y). The name is derived from the Greek "σύγχΰσις", meaning "confounding", a reference to the possibility to confuse the mineral with Parisite-(Ce).
