The Symbolic Grand Lodge of Spain (Gran Logia Simbólica Española as per Spanish) is one of the main grand obediences (federations of several masonic lodges) in Spain. It is one of group of obediences included in CLIPSAS, and can be defined as a mixed or egalitarian, liberal and non-dogmatic Grand Lodge. Definition The GLSE belongs to the French or continental tradition of world Masonry. It differs from English tradition, itself called “regular”, in that the latter obliges masons to believe in a revealed god and in soul immortality; also, women access is forbidden. As many other masonic organisations around the world, the GLSE does not embrace any of those two conditions. Emulation Lodge of Improvement is a Lodge of Instruction which first met on 2 October 1823, and is held under the sanction of Lodge of Unions No. 256 in the English Constitution. The Grand Orient of Poland (Polish: ''Wielki Wschód Polski'') is a Masonic grand lodge in Poland. It is a member of the European Masonic Association (EMA/AME), in the continental or liberal branch of Freemasonry. Grand Orient of Poland was established on February 26, 1784 on the basis of a patent granted by the Grand Orient of France. In its first phase of his functioning, it was active until the beginning of the 19th century, when Freemasonry in the Polish lands occupied by Russia (under Russian partition) at that time was forbidden by the Russian Tsar. The Serene Grand Lodge of Greece is a Masonic Grand Lodge in Greece. The name was originally used by an organisation which existed from 1815 to 1843. Grand Master (Masonic)
A Grand Master is a title of honour as well as an office in Freemasonry, given to a freemason elected to oversee a Masonic jurisdiction, derived from the office of Grand Masters in chivalric orders. He presides over a Grand Lodge and has certain rights in the constituent Lodges that form his jurisdiction. In most, but not all cases, the Grand Master is styled "Most Worshipful Grand Master." Grande Oriente Lusitano
The first known Freemasons in Portugal were the Swiss John Coustos and two other Portuguese members of his lodge, who were arrested by the Portuguese Inquisition and questioned under torture in the 1740s. Coustos wrote a book detailing his sufferings under the Inquisition and pointed to 1728 as being the year of the first Lodge, although nothing is known of the first years of this Lodge and it was not then recognised by the Grand Lodge of England. The Gran Loggia d'Italia degli A.L.A.M. (the acronym stands for Antichi Liberi e Accettati Muratori), known in English as the Grand Lodge of Italy of the A.F.A.M.
