It was first published in the periodical ''La Revue des Deux Mondes'' in 1853, and as a book in '' Les Filles du feu'' in 1854, just a few months before Nerval killed himself in January 1855. Sylvie Kauffmann (born 30 October 1955) is a French journalist for Agence France-Presse (AFP) and the newspaper ''Le Monde''. She worked for AFP in France in 1979 and as a foreign correspondent from 1980 to 1988.
