Syed Arifullah Hussaini
Vice Admiral Syed Arifullah Hussaini ( ur, ; 23 April 1961 December 17, 2020) also known as S.A. Hussaini, was a vice admiral in the Pakistan Navy. He also served as the Commander, Pakistan Fleet on 14 June 2016. Biography Hussaini was born in Karachi, Sindh in Pakistan into an Urdu-speaking family on 23 April 1961. He was educated at the Cadet College Petaro in Jamshoro and left the college to attend the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi. He graduated from the Naval Academy in 1981, and gained commissioned as Sub-Lieutenant. He was further educated at the Command and Staff College in Quetta, and attained MS in War studies from the National Defence University (NDU). He also studied for the national defence course in China, and qualified for the surface warfare from the United States. Vice Admiral (Pakistan)
Vice Admiral (abbreviated as VADM) is a three-star commissioned armed flag officer rank in the Pakistan Navy, coast guards, and marines awarded by the Government of Pakistan to rear admirals as a position advancement in uniformed service. It is the second-highest rank in Pakistan armed services with a NATO code of OF-8, and while it is worn on epaulettes with a three-star insignia, it ranks above two-star rank Rear Admiral and below four-star rank Admiral. Vice admiral is equivalent to the rank of Lieutenant general of Pakistan Army and Air marshal of the Pakistan Air Force. The Sitara-e-Imtiaz () also spelled as Sitara-i-Imtiaz, is the third-highest (in the order of "Imtiaz") honour and Civil decorations of Pakistan, civilian award in the State of Pakistan. It recognizes individuals who have made an "especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of Pakistan, world peace, cultural or other significant public endeavours".
