Sydney Swans
The Sydney Swans are a professional Australian rules football club based in Sydney, New South Wales. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Swans also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). The club's origins trace back to 21 March 1873, when a meeting was held at the Clarendon Hotel in South Melbourne to establishing a junior football club, to be called the South Melbourne Football Club. The club commenced playing in 1874 at its home ground; Lakeside Oval in Albert Park. Playing as South Melbourne, it participated in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) competition from 1878 before joining the breakaway Victorian Football League (VFL) as a founding member in 1897. Jared Crouch
Jared Crouch (born 5 March 1978) is a former Australian football player with the Sydney Swans of the Australian Football League (AFL), who is colloquially known as "Crouchie" to Swans fans and the media. He currently serves as a development coach at the Sydney Swans. Having played for Norwood in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL), Crouch was selected by Sydney in the first round of the 1995 AFL Draft. He did not make his senior debut until 1998, when he was called up to play against Collingwood in Round 7, having been originally selected as an emergency for that match. He played in every game for the rest of the season, earning a Rising Star Award nomination, and he did not miss a game in the subsequent seven years. Matthew Wadsworth Davis (born May 8, 1978) is an American actor. Paul Chambers (footballer)
Paul Chambers (born 23 June 1982) is an Australian rules footballer with the Werribee Football Club in the Victorian Football League, who formerly played for the AFL's Geelong Football Club and Sydney Swans. He was promoted off Geelong's rookie list in 2002 before making his debut in Round 4 of that year against St Kilda. Amon Buchanan
Amon Buchanan (born 10 October 1982) is a former Australian rules football who played for the Brisbane Lions and the Sydney Swans in the AFL. He is currently serving as the forwards coach of the Greater Western Sydney Giants. AFL career Sydney Buchanan grew up in the Victorian town of Colac, west of Melbourne. He played football for Colac and the Geelong Falcons Under 18's team, winning a premiership with the Falcons in 2000 and subsequently being selected by the Sydney Swans in the post-season National Draft. He made his senior debut in Round 11 of the 2002 season against West Coast. Ryan Brabazon (born 26 December 1986) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League. After winning the Jack Clarke Medal for fairest and best in the WAFL Colts competition he was recruited as the number 59 draft pick in the 2005 AFL Draft from Claremont. Jude Bolton
Jude Bolton (born 15 March 1980) is a former professional Australian rules football player who played for the Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League (AFL) between 1999 and 2013. Early life Growing up, he supported the St Kilda Football Club. He was recruited from and played his junior football at St Bernard's Football Club in Essendon. AFL career Bolton played his first senior game for Sydney against Carlton in round 12 of the 1999 season and received a Rising Star Award nomination the following year. By 2001, he was a regular member of the team and went on to represent Australia in the International Rules series in 2004. On Saturday, 9 April 2011, Bolton laid an AFL-record 19 tackles in a match, playing an integral role in victory over the West Coast Eagles. Craig Bolton
Craig Bolton (born 31 May 1980) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Brisbane Lions and the Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League (AFL). He often plays at full back or on the half back flank. He is unrelated to former Swans teammate Jude Bolton. Playing career Having played for the Eastlake Football Club in Canberra, and the NSW/ ACT Under 18s team, Bolton was picked by Brisbane in the 3rd round of the 1998 AFL Draft. He was on the Lions' list from 1999 until 2002, making his debut against Carlton in Round 1 of the 2000 season. Being unable to gain a regular place in the very strong Brisbane team of the time forced Bolton to depart the club at the end of the 2002 season, managing only 29 games since his debut. Paul Bevan
Paul Bevan (born 27 September 1984) is an Australian rules football player with the Sydney Swans of the Australian Football League (AFL). Having grown up in Sydney, playing for Western Suburbs Magpies AFC in the Sydney AFL and the NSW/ ACT under-18s team, he was elevated from the Swans' rookie list in 2004. He played 24 senior games in that year and earned a nomination for the Rising Star award in round four. In 2005, he played 15 games and was a member of the Swans' first premiership winning team in 72 years. In 2010, Bevan managed to solidify his place in the senior side again. Luke Ablett
Luke Ablett (born 22 November 1982) is a former Australian rules footballer with the Sydney Swans of the AFL. He is the son of former Hawthorn player Kevin Ablett, and nephew of Hawthorn player Geoff Ablett and Geelong player Gary Ablett. Having played for local club Drouin and the Gippsland Under 18s side, Ablett was drafted by Sydney in the second round of the 2000 National Draft and made his debut in Round 13 of the 2002 season against Fremantle. After playing four games in both that season and the next, including two matches in the 2003 finals series, he secured a regular place in the team in 2004, and made a role for himself on his own merits as a midfielder and run-with player.
