Sydney Sixers (WBBL)
The Sydney Sixers (WBBL) are an Australian women's Twenty20 cricket team based in Moore Park, New South Wales, Moore Park, New South Wales. They are one of two teams from Sydney to compete in the Women's Big Bash League, the other being the Sydney Thunder (WBBL), Sydney Thunder. Having won two championship titles and four minor premierships, the Sixers are the most successful WBBL franchise to date. History Formation One of eight founding WBBL teams, the Sydney Sixers are aligned with the Sydney Sixers, men's team of the same name. Sydney Sixers
The Sydney Sixers are an Australian professional franchise men's cricket team, competing in Australia's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition, the Big Bash League (BBL). Along with the Sydney Thunder, the Sixers are the successors of the New South Wales Blues who played in the now-defunct KFC Twenty20 Big Bash. The Sixers play at Sydney Cricket Ground in the south-eastern area of the inner city while the Thunder play out of Sydney Showground Stadium further west. The inaugural coach was Trevor Bayliss, who was replaced in 2015 by current coach Greg Shipperd. The Sixers' inaugural captain was Australian wicket-keeper Brad Haddin. Both Steve Smith and Moises Henriques have also spent time captaining the team. Competing in the inaugural Big Bash League, the Sydney Sixers went on to win the tournament. The captain of a cricket team, often referred to as the skipper, is the appointed leader, having several additional roles and responsibilities over and above those of the other players. Fielding in the sport of cricket is the action of fielders in collecting the ball after it is struck by the striking batter, to limit the number of runs that the striker scores and/or to get a batter out by either catching a hit ball before it bounces, or by running out either batter before they can complete the run they are currently attempting. In cricket, the stumps are the three vertical posts that support the bails and form the wicket. '' Stumping'' or ''being stumped'' is a method of dismissing a batsman. Wicket-keeper
The wicket-keeper in the sport of cricket is the player on the fielding side who stands behind the wicket or stumps being watchful of the batsman and ready to take a catch, stump the batsman out and run out a batsman when occasion arises. The wicket-keeper is the only member of the fielding side permitted to wear gloves and external leg guards. The role of the keeper is governed by Law 27 of the Laws of Cricket. Delivery (cricket)
A delivery or ball in cricket is a single action of bowling a cricket ball toward the batsman. Once the ball has been delivered, batsmen may attempt to score runs, with the bowler and other fielders attempting to stop this by getting the batsmen out. When the ball becomes dead, the next delivery can begin. During play of the game, a member of the fielding team is designated as the bowler, and bowls deliveries toward the batsman. Six legal balls in a row constitutes an over, after which a different member of the fielding side takes over the role of bowler for the next over. Sarah Aley
Sarah Elizabeth Aley (born 3 June 1984) is a former Australian cricketer. She played domestic cricket for New South Wales in the Women's National Cricket League (WNCL) and the Sydney Sixers in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL). In 2017 she played three matches for the Australian national cricket team. She retired from all forms of cricket in 2020. Cricket career Aley played domestic cricket for New South Wales, making her state debut in the 2004/05 season. Her only international call-up in the first part of her career was for Australia's under-23 team in 2004. Women's cricket at state level was still amateur, without player contracts, while Aley was in her 20s, so she worked full-time at the University of Sydney to earn money while playing cricket. Aley struggled with injuries in her late 20s, so she considered retiring from the sport until Cricket Australia introduced contracts for state players. The Perth Scorchers (WBBL) are an Australian women's Twenty20 cricket team based in East Perth, Western Australia. They compete in the Women's Big Bash League, and won their first championship in WBBL07.
