Switch Board Susan
"Switchboard Susan" is a song written by Mickey Jupp and recorded by Nick Lowe for his 1979 album, ''Labour of Lust''. The song was produced by Lowe. Jupp originally wrote the song for his album ''Juppanese'', which Lowe was producing. Jupp disliked the backing track that Lowe's band Rockpile produced for the song, calling it "shit from top to bottom" according to Lowe. Lowe received Jupp's permission to take the song for himself. He recalled: "Switchboard Susan" was released as a single in North America only. The follow-up to Lowe's biggest chart hit "Cruel to Be Kind", the single reached number 81 Canada and number 107 on the US pop chart. Bo Anders Niklas Strömstedt (born 25 July 1958) is a Swedish singer, songwriter, musician, record producer and actor. Early life Niklas Strömstedt was born on 25 July 1958 in Lund as the first child of Margareta (née Henriksson) and Bo Strömstedt. Strömstedt's sister, Lotten, is four years his junior. Strömstedt was raised in the Stockholm suburb of Hagsätra. Strömstedt attended Adolf Fredrik's Music School in Stockholm. Career Strömstedt played the keyboards on Ulf Lundell's recordings and tours from the late 1970s to the end of the 1980s. Open All Hours (album)
''Open All Hours'' (2004) is The Hamsters ninth album. It was recorded during a hectic touring schedule June/July 2003. The band's notorious self-deprecating humour came to the fore with the artwork for this particular album. It featured several pictures of famous movie stars and classic British comedy stars with heads being replaced (and not always in a flattering manner) by members of the band. The whole booklet was designed to represent the walk from the box office to the screen of an old-fashioned British flea-pit cinema. Slim has stated that this will most likely be the last CD release by The Hamsters and that all subsequent releases will be on the DVD format. The Hamsters
The Hamsters were a British band from Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England. They performed their first live show at the Cliffs Pavilion, Southend-on-Sea, on 1 April 1987, and their last at The Half Moon, Putney on 1 April 2012, exactly 25 years later. They initially played in local pubs with no ambitions to take themselves seriously or to turn professional. The A-side and B-side are the two sides of phonograph records and cassettes; these terms have often been printed on the labels of two-sided music recordings. The A-side usually features a recording that its artist, producer, or record company intends to be the initial focus of promotional efforts and radio airplay and hopefully become a hit record.
