Swinney Government
John Swinney formed the Swinney government on 8 May 2024, following his appointment as First Minister of Scotland, first minister of Scotland at the Court of Session. History On 29 April 2024, Humza Yousaf announced his intention to resign Leader of the Scottish National Party, the leadership of the Scottish National Party, and as First Minister. Swinney announced his candidacy for the 2024 Scottish National Party leadership election, internal leadership contest, and was elected unopposed. Shona Robison resigned as Deputy First Minister on 8 May in favour of Kate Forbes, but was re-appointed as Swinney's Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Local Government, Finance Secretary with additional responsibility for local government. Shona Robison
Shona McRory Robison (born 26 May 1966) is a Scottish politician serving as the Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Housing and Local Government since 2021. A member of the Scottish National Party (SNP), she has been the Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for Dundee City East since 2003 and was an additional member for the North East Scotland region from 1999 to 2003. Born in England, Robison studied at the University of Glasgow and Jordanhill College. She was an active member of the SNP's youth wing and worked in Glasgow City Council's Social Work Department, until her election to the Scottish Parliament. Having served on the Parliament's Health Committee, Robison was appointed Minister for Public Health. Joseph Martin FitzPatrick (born 1 April 1967) is a Scottish politician who is a member of the Scottish National Party (SNP), and has been the Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for Dundee City West since the 2007. Kaukab Stewart (born 1967/68) is a Scottish National Party (SNP) politician who has been the Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for Glasgow Kelvin since May 2021.
