Swing Out Sister are a British pop group best known worldwide for the 1986 song " Breakout". Other hits include " Surrender", " Twilight World", " Waiting Game", and a remake of the Eugene Record soul composition "Am I the Same Girl?" The group was formed by Andy Connell (keyboards) and Martin Jackson (drums); they were later joined by Corinne Drewery (vocals). Shanachie Records
Shanachie Records is an American, New Jersey-based record label, founded in 1975 by Richard Nevins and Dan Collins. The label is named for the Gaelic word '' seanchaí'' (anglicised as shanachie), an Irish storyteller. It was previously distributed by Entertainment One Distribution. Starting as a label that specialized in fiddle music, they began releasing work by Celtic groups such as Planxty and Clannad. Other genres on the label include Latin American, African music, soul, country and ska. In 1989 they acquired Yazoo Records from Nick Perls. This allowed them to release vintage jazz and blues recordings. Today, they have another imprint, Shanachie Jazz. ''Shapes and Patterns'' is the fifth studio album by British pop group Swing Out Sister. It was first released in Japan in March 1997 on Mercury Records, and in Europe and the United States the following year. Producer Paul Staveley O'Duffy, who co-wrote half of the songs on the album, was back at the helm. As an orchestra was once again employed (led by Gavyn Wright), the lush arrangements characteristic of '' Kaleidoscope World'' (1989) resurfaced. The album features the track " Now You're Not Here" which was used as the theme to the Japanese programme ''Mahiru No Tsuki'', as well as a reworked version of "Better Make It Better" which had featured on their previous studio album, '' The Living Return'' (1994). ''The Living Return'' is the title of the fourth studio album by the British pop group Swing Out Sister. It was released in September 1994 on Fontana Records. Charts Although this was the first studio album by the group that failed to reach the UK Albums Chart, the lead single, " La-La (Means I Love You)", peaked at #37 on the UK Singles Chart. This song is a cover version of the 1968 hit by The Delfonics and appeared on the soundtrack of the film '' Four Weddings and a Funeral''. "Better Make It Better" was also released as a single, although it did not make the music charts in either the UK or the US. The song "Mama Didn't Raise No Fool" was featured on the American basic cable and satellite television network, Disney Channel. Reviews ''New Musical Express'' magazine gave ''The Living Return'' an 8 out of 10 rating in its 17 September 1994 issue, saying that the album "...sounds divine, a glissando of strings and things, an aural bath for the ears."
