Tollcross International Swimming Centre
The Tollcross International Swimming Centre is a swimming pool and leisure centre in Glasgow. It hosted the Swimming events at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. The centre hosted the IPC Swimming World Championships during July 2015. Technical features It has one Olympic standard 50 metre swimming pool, which was extensively upgraded, and a second 50-metre pool which was added as a warm-up facility. The pool was reopened on 24 May 2013. The seating capacity of the Pool is 2,000, rising to 5,000 with temporary seating during the Commonwealth Games. Arina Pavlovna Openysheva (russian: Арина Павловна Опёнышева; born 24 March 1999) is a Russian competitive swimmer. She won eight medals at the 2015 European Games. Seven medals were gold (200 m freestyle, 400 m freestyle, 4 × 100 m freestyle, 4 × 200 m freestyle, 4 × 100 m medley, 4 × 100 m mixed freestyle, 4 × 100 m mixed medley) making her the most decorated athlete of the Games. Erika Ferraioli (born 23 March 1986) is an Italian swimmer. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, she was part of the Italian 4 × 100 m freestyle relay team. Alessandro Miressi (born 2 October 1998) is an Italian swimmer. He is a world record holder in the short course 4×100 metre freestyle relay and an Italian record holder in the long course and short course 100 metre freestyle. In the long course 100 metre freestyle, he was 2018 European champion, 2020 European Championships silver medalist, and 2022 European Championships bronze medalist. In the short course 100 metre freestyle, he was 2021 World champion, 2019 and 2021 European Championships silver medalist, and 2022 World Championships bronze medalist. Career In 2018, Miressi competed in the men's 4 × 100 metre freestyle relay event at the European Championships, winning the silver medal. 2018 European Aquatics Championships
The 2018 European Aquatics Championships took place in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Luss in the central belt of Scotland, from 3 to 12 August 2018. The championships were part of the first European Championships with other events happening in Scotland and Berlin. Venue The Tollcross International Swimming Centre hosted the swimming events with the diving being hosted by the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh.
