The Olympic Aquatics Stadium ( pt, Estádio Aquático Olímpico) was a temporary aquatics center in the Barra Olympic Park in Rio de Janeiro. The venue hosted the Swimming at the 2016 Summer Olympics, swimming events, Synchronized swimming at the 2016 Summer Olympics, Synchronized swimming finals and Water polo at the 2016 Summer Olympics, water polo finals at the 2016 Summer Olympics, and the Swimming at the 2016 Summer Paralympics, para-swimming events for the 2016 Summer Paralympics. Structure The center was designed as a temporary structure, a form of nomadic architecture similar to the Future Arena, which hosted Handball at the 2016 Summer Olympics, handball. After completion of the two Games, it was dismantled and its parts were used in the construction of two new, different facilities. A total of eleven events were contested for eleven different classifications. Competition format Each event consists of two rounds: heats and final. The top eight swimmers overall in the heats progress to the final. If there are less than eight swimmers in an event, no heats are held and all swimmers qualify for the final. S10 (classification)
S10, SB9, SM10 are Paralympic sports#Classification, disability swimming classifications used for categorizing swimmers based on their level of disability. Swimmers in this class tend to have minimal weakness affecting their legs, missing feet, a missing leg below the knee or problems with their hips. This class includes a number of different disabilities including people with amputations and cerebral palsy. The classification is governed by the International Paralympic Committee, and competes at the Paralympic Games. Definition This classification is for swimming (sport), swimming. In the classification title, S represents Freestyle, Backstroke and Butterfly strokes. SB means breaststroke. SM means individual medley. Swimming classifications are on a gradient, with one being the most severely physically impaired to ten having the least amount of physical disability.
