The Men's 100 metre butterfly swimming events for the 2020 Summer Paralympics took place at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre from August 25 to September 3, 2021. A total of seven events were contested over this distance. Schedule Medal summary The following is a summary of the medals that were awarded across all 100 metre butterfly events. Swimming At The 2020 Summer Paralympics
Swimming at the 2020 Summer Paralympics was held at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. There were 146 events (76 male, 67 female, 3 mixed relay events) - six fewer events than the 2016 Summer Paralympics. Swimming is the second largest sport: behind athletics and ahead of table tennis. The 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They kept the 2020 name and were held from 24 August to 5 September 2021. Qualification Qualification starts from 1 October 2018 and finishes on 1 August 2021. Classes There are three swimming sport class prefixes for swimming strokes: * S is for freestyle, butterfly and backstroke events. * SB is for breaststroke * SM is for individual medley events. As well as swimming strokes, they are also divided into ten different categories: * S1/SB1: swimmers who may have tetraplegia or some form of loss of muscular power in their legs, arms and hands. Luis Armando Andrade Guillen (born March 10, 1995) is a Mexican Paralympic swimmer. He was born in Baja California Sur, México. When Armando was 6 years old, in a car accident, he lost his arm. At that time, he started swimming as a form of therapy. Eventually, Armando earned the opportunity to compete in some competitions in Mexico and then in the Paralympics. From the age of eleven, Armando participated in the Paralympics. He went on to compete in the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara and the IPC World Swimming Championships in Glasgow 2015. S8, SB7, SM8 are Paralympic sports#Classification, disability swimming classifications used for categorizing swimmers based on their level of disability. This class includes a number of different disabilities including people with amputations and cerebral palsy. The classification is governed by the International Paralympic Committee, and competes at the Paralympic Games. Definition This classification is for Swimming (sport), swimming. In the classification title, S represents Freestyle, Backstroke and Butterfly strokes. SB means breaststroke. SM means individual medley. The number following indicates degree of disability, with one being the most severely physically impaired to ten having the least amount of physical disability. Reece Dunn (born 19 September 1995) is a British Paralympic swimmer. He represented Great Britain at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. Career Dunn was named the World Disabled Swimmer of the Year in 2019. Dunn, who is diagnosed with autism, represented Great Britain at the 2020 Summer Paralympics where he won a gold medal in the 200 metre freestyle and a silver medal in the 100 metre butterfly S14 events.
