Baku Aquatics Centre
The Aquatic Palace is a sporting venue in Baku, Azerbaijan, which is fully compliant with the requirements of the International Swimming Federation (FINA). The Palace hosted the Baku 2015 European Games and Baku 2017 4th Islamic Solidarity Games. The Aquatic Palace has three swimming pools. One pool is an Olympic-size swimming pool and was designed for different types of competitions at local and international levels. The length of the pool for diving is 25 meters in height and 20 meters in width and has a five-stage platform for high board diving from a height of 3, 5, 7, 5 and 10 meters. 6,000-10,000 spectators can watch sports competitions, concerts at the palace. The palace also has sectors for VIP, media and the disabled. Ediz Yıldırımer
Ediz Yıldırımer (; born 25 October 1993) is a Turkish freestyle swimmer competing particularly in the 800 m and 1500 m events. He represented his country at the 2008 Summer Olympics without advancing to the final. With his age of 14, he was the youngest ever Turkish athlete to take part at the Olympics. Early years Born at Gölcük in Kocaeli Province, he began swimming at the age of six in Konya, where his family moved after the 1999 İzmit earthquake. He became there a member of Konya Firuze Swim Club, and was mentored in swimming techniques. Two years later, Yıldırımer returned to Kocaeli to join the cadets team. Career In 2003, Yıldırımer set a national record in 100 m freestyle of his age category at the Turkish Swimming Championships that was his first competition at national level. The grandson of Kurdish Syrian Prime Minister Muhsin al-Barazi’s cousin, Al-Barazi holds a dual citizenship between his parents' nation Syria and the United States, where he resides. Biography He was invited to apply for the Syrian citizenship, after he was seen swimming laps in a public pool in 2010. Following he represented Syria in several swimming events such as two Olympic Games in 2012 and 2016. His main goal is to give hope for the people in Syria who are having a difficult time during the Syrian Civil War. In the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Al-Barazi qualified for the men's 100 m breaststroke, as a member of the Syrian team. Demir Atasoy (also ''Dmitry Cherkasov'', born May 26, 1987 in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukrainian SSR) is a Ukrainian-born Turkish swimmer, who specialized in the breaststroke events. Laureate of the National Rating «Top 100 Outstanding Men of Kyiv Region». Atasoy qualified for the men's 100 m breaststroke at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, by clearing a FINA B-standard time of 1:02.43 from the Croatian Open Championships in Dubrovnik. He challenged seven other swimmers on the fourth heat, including three-time Olympian Jakob Jóhann Sveinsson of Iceland.
