The men's 100 metre breaststroke competition of the swimming events at the 2012 European Aquatics Championships took place May 21 and 22. The heats and semifinals took place on May 21, the final on May 22. Records Prior to the competition, the existing world, European and championship records were as follows. Fabio Scozzoli (born 8 August 1988) is an Italian swimmer. At the 2012 World Short Course Championships, he won the gold medal in the 100 metre breaststroke. He is the 2022 Mediterranean champion in the 50 metre breaststroke. Andriy Kovalenko (swimmer)
Andrei Kovalenko (Андрій Коваленко; born 6 November 1970 in Kiev) is an Australian water polo player and current coach of the UWA Torpedoes Men's Water Polo team and coach of the u18 and u16 UWA City Beach Bears. He competed for Australia at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, as well as for CIS at Barcelona 1992 in which he won a bronze medal and Ukraine at Atlanta 1996. In 2007 he helped Australia attain a bronze medal in the FINA Water Polo World League. In recent years, Andrei has starting playing Men's Softball for the Woodlands Wolves Ball Club. Andrei has started to refine his pitching (underarm), and shown his skills in the outfield with his "Rocket for an Arm". Aleksander Hetland (born 26 December 1982) is a Norwegian swimmer. Hetland, who represents Bærumssvømmerne,Listing of Norwegian Records, retrieved from medley.no on 2009-07-15. has his strength in the medley events. He became world champion in the men's 50 metre breaststroke in the 2012 Short Course Worlds in Istanbul. At the 2004 Short Course Worlds in Indianapolis, IN, USA, Hetland finished fourth in the 100 m individual medley, setting the Norwegian Record with his time of 54.44. He claimed his first international swimming medal at the 2006 Short Course European Championships in Helsinki, where he received the bronze medal in the 100 m individual medley, improving his Norwegian Record to 53.70. Tomáš Klobučník
Tomáš Klobučník (born June 21, 1990 in Topoľčany) is a Slovak swimmer, who specializes in breaststroke events. He is a multiple-time Slovak swimming champion and record holder in the 100 and 200 m breaststroke, and also, a two-time Swimmer of the Year (2009 and 2011) by the Slovak Swimming Federation. Klobucnik is also a resident athlete for J&T Sport Team Bratislava, and is coached and trained by Gabriel Baran. Klobucnik qualified for the men's 200 m breaststroke at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, by breaking a long-course Slovak record, eclipsing the FINA B-cut time of 2:13.10 at the European Championships in Debrecen, Hungary.
