The 2002 Asian Games ( ko, 2002년 아시아 경기대회/2002년 아시안 게임, Icheoni-nyeon Asia gyeonggi daehoe/Icheoni-nyeon Asian Geim), officially known as the XIV Asian Games ( ko, 제14회 아시아 경기대회/제14회 아시안 게임, Jesipsahoe Asia gyeonggi daehoe/Jesipsahoe Asian Geim) and also known as Busan 2002 ( ko, 부산2002, Busan Icheoni), were an international multi-sport event held in Busan, South Korea from September 29 to October 14, 2002, with the football event commenced 2 days before the opening ceremony. Busan is the second city in South Korea, after Seoul in 1986 to host the Games. This was the second time South Korea hosted the event. A total of 419 events in 38 sports were contested by 7,711 athletes from 44 countries. The Games were also co-hosted by its four neighbouring cities: Ulsan, Changwon, Masan and Yangsan. Petr Vasiliev (also ''Pyotr Vasiliev'', uz, Пётр Васильев; born April 21, 1981) is an Uzbek former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle events. He is a two-time Olympian (2000 and 2004), and a top 16 finalist in the 200 m freestyle at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, South Korea. Vasiliev made his first Uzbek squad at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, where he competed only in the 4×100 m freestyle relay, along with Ravil Nachaev, Oleg Tsvetkovskiy, and Oleg Pukhnatiy. Vasiliev supposedly swam a third leg in the first heat, but his team was disqualified due to an early relay takeoff by Pukhnatiy. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Vasiliev qualified as an individual swimmer for the men's 200 m freestyle. Mark Kwok Kin-ming (; born 20 June 1977) is a former swimmer for Hong Kong, who specialized in middle-distance freestyle but also competed in butterfly and individual medley. He is a two-time Olympian (1996 and 2000), and a bronze medalist at the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand. He also holds numerous Hong Kong records in 200, 400, and 800 m freestyle, and retains a dual resident status to compete internationally for his father's homeland.
