Swifton Center
Swifton Center was a shopping mall in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. Opened in 1956 as the first mall in the Cincinnati area, it was initially an open-air complex featuring Rollman & Sons department store as the sole anchor store. This store was converted to Mabley & Carew in 1960, and again to Elder-Beerman in 1978. Other major tenants included Kroger, Liberal Market, G. C. Murphy, and S. S. Kresge. The mall had undergone a severe decline in tenancy by the early 1980s, resulting from the relocation of Kroger and deferred maintenance of the property. In 1985, Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation purchased the mall and renovated it as Swifton Commons. As part of this renovation, the mall gained a number of outlet stores. Northgate Mall (Ohio)
Northgate Mall is an enclosed shopping mall in Northgate, Ohio. Built in 1972, the mall currently has only one vacant anchor store out of the two anchor stores that were once Sears and Macy's. History Construction on the mall began in 1970, on the site of a former airport. It opened on September 10, 1972, anchored by Sears, McAlpin's and Pogue's. The mall also included a Kroger supermarket. Pogue's became L. S. Ayres in 1984, and then J. C. Penney in 1988. Tri-County Mall was a shopping mall located on State Route 747 (Princeton Pike) just south of Interstate 275 in the city of Springdale, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. A sock hop or sox hop, often also called a record hop or just a hop, was an informal sponsored dance event for teenagers in mid-20th-century North America, featuring popular music. History Sock hops were held as early as 1944 by the American Junior Red Cross to raise funds during World War II. They then became a fad among American teenagers in 1948.
