Sweetwater is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 19,363, up from 13,499 in 2010. Geography Sweetwater is located west of downtown Miami at (25.765977, –80.373624). It is bordered to the north and northeast by the city of Doral, to the southeast by Fontainebleau, to the south by Westchester, and to the west by Tamiami. The Ronald Reagan Turnpike forms the western edge of the city, and the Dolphin East-West Expressway crosses the center. U.S. Route 41 (Southwest 8th Street) follows the city's southern border. According to the United States Census Bureau, Sweetwater has a total area of , of which are land and , or 9.58%, are water. The city tripled in size in 2010 upon the annexation of additional areas, including where Dolphin Mall is located. Homestead Extension Of Florida's Turnpike
The Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike (HEFT), designated as unsigned State Road 821 (SR 821), is the southern extension of Florida's Turnpike, a toll road in the U.S. state of Florida maintained by Florida's Turnpike Enterprise (FTE). Spanning approximately along a north–south axis, it supplements the mainline (designated as SR 91) to form the complete turnpike. The extension begins at its southern terminus at U.S. Route 1 (US 1) in Florida City, and transitions into the SR 91 mainline in Miramar at its northern end. Despite their designations as different state roads, the mainline and the extension are continuous in their exit numbering. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and locative information about more than two million physical and cultural features throughout the United States and its territories, Antarctica, and the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau.
