Sweetnorthernsaint
Sweetnorthernsaint is a Thoroughbred race horse. A Florida foal of March 2003, he was a top contender for the Triple Crown in 2006. Late in his two-year-old season, he was very hard to handle, so his owners had him gelded. He lost his only start as a two-year-old, finishing 12th in a maiden race on the turf at Colonial Downs. Three-year-old season In his three-year-old season, Sweetnorthernsaint trained at Laurel Park Racecourse in Maryland for trainer Michael Trombetta. He broke his maiden at Laurel in his first race of the year but was disqualified and placed fourth. He then shipped to Aqueduct Racecourse and won a second higher purse maiden race and then went straight into stakes races. Sweetnorthernsaint broke the stakes record in the Miracle Wood Stakes at Laurel Park Racecourse, winning by ten lengths over his eight rivals. Waquoit (February 10, 1983–June 14, 2007) was an American Thoroughbred Horse racing, racehorse who won races at short and long distances en route to career earnings of more than United States dollar, $2.2 million. Background Standing close to seventeen hands, Waquoit was bred in Kentucky and sired by Relaunch (horse), Relaunch, a multiple stakes winner who sired several top runners including two Breeders' Cup winners. Waquoit's dam was Grey Parlo, a daughter of Grey Dawn II, Grey Dawn, the French Champion Two-Year-Old Colt who was the only horse to ever beat Sea-Bird and who became the leading broodmare sire in North America in 1990. Michael J. Trombetta (born October 26, 1966, in Baltimore, Maryland) is an American Thoroughbred horse trainer who began his training career in 1989 and who was the Maryland Trainer of the Year in 2005. Trombetta gained a national profile when Sweetnorthernsaint was the favorite for the 2006 Kentucky Derby. After coming in seventh in the Kentucky Derby, Sweetnorthernsaint later finished second in the 2006 Preakness. The Miracle Wood Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race held in February at Laurel Park Racecourse in Laurel, Maryland. The Miracle Wood is open to three-year-olds and is run at seven furlongs on the dirt. An ungraded stakes, it currently offers a purse of $100,000. The Miracle Wood is also one of Maryland's triple crown prep races. The Illinois Derby is a race for Thoroughbred horses for three year olds run over a distance of one and one-eighth miles (9 furlongs) on the dirt at Hawthorne Race Course in Stickney/Cicero, Illinois, just west of Chicago in early April each year. Kent Jason Desormeaux (born February 27, 1970) is an American thoroughbred horse racing Hall of Fame jockey who holds the U.S. record for most races won in a single year with 598 wins in 1989. He has won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes three times each, and the Belmont Stakes once. Aboard Real Quiet, he lost the 1998 Triple Crown by a nose. Bernardini (March 23, 2003 – July 30, 2021) was a champion American Thoroughbred racehorse who won the 2006 Preakness Stakes and Travers Stakes. Background A son of A.P. Indy, he is out of Cara Rafaela, who won almost a million dollars during her racing career. Her sire was Quiet American, who also produced Real Quiet, a horse that came within a nose of winning the 1998 Triple Crown. Bernardini was trained by Thomas Albertrani. Delaware Park (also known as ''DelPark'') is an American Thoroughbred horse racing track, casino, and golf course in Stanton, Delaware. It is located just outside the city of Wilmington, and about 30 miles from Philadelphia. The Lone Star Park Handicap was a Grade III American Thoroughbred horse race for horses three-years-old and older over a distance miles on the dirt held annually during the last week of May at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas that was last held in 2018. Saint Ballado (1989-2002) was a Canadian-bred Thoroughbred race horse, best known as the sire of Horse of the Year Saint Liam and champion Ashado. Saint Ballado was the leading sire in North America of 2005. Background Saint Ballado was bred in Ontario by Windfields Farm. He was sired by Halo, himself a leading sire whose other offspring included the great Sunday Silence. Saint Ballado's dam, Ballade, was the 1992 Canadian Broodmare of the Year. Calder Casino is a casino located in Miami Gardens, Florida. It includes slots, electronic table games, and bingo.
