Antonio Momplet
Antonio Momplet (1899 – 10 August 1974) was a Spanish film director and screenwriter. He worked in Spain, France, Argentina and Mexico. Life and career Antonio Momplet was born in Cádiz, Andalusia. He worked as a journalist and translator of foreign films in Barcelona until 1927, when he moved to Paris and began to work for Gaumont. In the mid 1930s he moved back to Spain where he directed four feature films and founded the film journal ''Cine Art'', which quickly became influential. To avoid the Spanish Civil War, he moved to Argentina in 1937, and made eight feature films the following years. In 1943 he moved to Mexico to join the film industry there, and made a number of Mexican films both as director and writer for others, before he moved back to Buenos Aires in 1946. In 1952 he returned to Spain. During his final Spanish period he made films such as the Spaghetti Western parody ''Due contro tutti'', before he retired in 1964. Silvana Roth (also known as Silvana Maria Rota, February 17, 1924 – April 3, 2010) was an Argentine stage and film actress.Melgosa p.55 A star of the Golden Age of Argentine Cinema, she appeared in twenty six films between 1940 and 1971. Sources differ over her place of birth, with some saying Genoa in Italy and others Buenos Aires. Politically Roth was a staunch Peronist. She served in the Argentine Chamber of Deputies between 1973 and 1976 before being ousted after the coup that year. She was one of the delegates to the International Women's Year World Conference on Women in 1975. Pablo Palitos (February 8, 1906 – February 26, 1989) was a Spanish-born Argentine stage and film actor. He was born in Zaragoza as Pedro Pablo Senger, adopting his stage name after emigrating to Argentina. He appeared in twenty one films during his career. His daughter is the actress Graciela Pal and his granddaughter the actress Manuela Pal. Between others, he has been part of the cast of several productions. He made his film debut in Brazil in 1933 at “A Voz do Carnaval”, by Adhemar Gonzaga and Humberto Mauro. ''Paquita'' is a ballet in two acts and three scenes originally choreographed by Joseph Mazilier to music by Édouard Deldevez and Ludwig Minkus. Paul Foucher received royalties as librettist. History ''Paquita'' is the creation of French composer Édouard Deldevez and Paris Opéra Ballet Master Joseph Mazilier. It was first presented at the Salle Le Peletier by the Paris Opera Ballet on 1 April 1846 and was retained in the repertory of the Opéra until 1851.
