Swedish Standard Industrial Classification
The Swedish Standard Industrial Classification, commonly referred to as SNI, is a Swedish industry standard economic classification system, consisting of a hierarchy of codes that are up to 6-digits long. The SNI standard is modeled on the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community, commonly referred to as NACE. The most recent version of the SNI standard is SNI 2007, which corresponds to NACE Revision 2. Industry classification or industry taxonomy is a type of economic taxonomy that classifies companies, organizations and traders into industrial groupings based on similar production processes, similar products, or similar behavior in financial markets. National and international statistical agencies use various industry-classification schemes to summarize economic conditions. Securities analysts use such groupings to track common forces acting on groups of companies, to compare companies' performance to that of their peers, and to construct either specialized or diversified portfolios. The Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community, commonly referred to as NACE (for the French term ''"nomenclature statistique des activités économiques dans la Communauté européenne"''), is the industry standard classification system used in the European Union.
